Hey guys, its me again with more exhaust Q's. How much power can I expect from long tube headers and 2 1/2 exhaust? And would it be feasible to have my local shop make an H-pipe?

You could have them make one, but I think it'd be cheaper to buy one and have them put it in. The shorty header version of MAC's off-road H pipe in aluminized steel was about $120. The long tube one has less pipe and fewer bends in it so I'd think it would be cheaper. mdvaldosta 09-07-2003, 11:03 PM Your local shop probably wont put on an off-road h-pipe, or do any work on your car's exhaust if your cats are missing, the ones that do usually will only work from the cats back (or where they would be). 25-30 hp is a reasonable figure to expect when going from a stock catted exhaust to a full off road 2 1/2in exhaust. tchamber 09-08-2003, 02:49 AM Thanks for the input, but I wasn't aware that you couln't have cats when using an h-pipe. Anyways, I'm buying the headers this week, have the complete exhaust before the end of the month. mdvaldosta 09-08-2003, 10:05 AM You can have cats with an h-pipe. If the shop is gonna make it then they can weld in hi-flow ones. You can buy hi-flow catted h-pipes as well, they just cost considerably more. Sorry for the misunderstanding. |
