Default 06 GT VS. BMW M5

I just got a brand new 2006 GT. Its Black with the red leather and 18" polished wheels. Great car.

My brother in Law has a new BMW M5. Its definitly a killer ride, but he has knocked mustangs one too many times! I need to line up with him, but I dont want to get smoked. So I need to do some minor mods first. So my question is what do I need to do? CAI, 4:10's, exhaust, tune??

If you can swing it go Supercharger/ turbo.

The M5 has 2 cylinders on you and about 60 more ft/ lbs of torque. But he weighs 4000 lbs. He has a 7-Speed tranny so he is almost always in his powerband...

You can probably get him with, CAI+tune, 4.10-4.30 Gears, UDP's, a new T-Body if you want more low end torque and/or a 75 shot of NOS. That would bring you up to around his level.

Check out www.edmonds.com. They conducted a test on the vehicle, here's the link...

http://www.edmunds.com/apps/vdpconta...ticleId=109147

Here's a quote pulled from the article. "Our test car plowed through the quarter-mile in 12.8 seconds at 115 mph — a full half-second quicker than the comparably priced Cadillac. It hit 60 in 4.8 seconds."

In my opinion, without some serious work to your stang, you're only looking for more torment from your brother in law...

They got stangs into 12's with barely any mods. Just some D/R's, CAI+Tune, and some weight reduction.

Let's see..he's got about 500lb more weight, but 200 more hp.....you need at least 125 to 150 rwhp to not get shown up(even with a bad launch). Seeing as the M5 is a paddled shifted 7spd semi auto....without a power adder you're gonna need a perfect time behind the wheel with only bolt-ons(and then only in a 1/4 mile race after that hp takes over). A supercharger with gears should alleviate any smugness on his behalf. Time to charge up the credit card.[sm=signs003.gif]

what year is his M5? the last generation was pretty fast, and the new ones are faster.

Assuming that it's a new one, best to tease him about how much $$ he spent. But it is a faster and more powerful car than the mustang in every respect.

Torque= Better acceleration.
HP= Better Top Speed.

hese got ~75 more torque in that V-10, with barely any mods, you can get a GT into the mid/high 12's.

+1, his base price without any options is $81,000, so i wouldnt feel to bad if you get smoked by him, add a super charger and some other mods and you are still probaly 40,000 under what he paid and you can smoke him then.
