Default 06 Eclipse GT w/5spd

This guy I know recently purchased an 06 Eclipse GT w/5spd and was saying how he was hopin for atleast a 14.5 in the 1/4 mile stock. I told him my automatic GT would barely run that, and I know I'm faster than he is. He said there have been guys on Streetfire to run 14.0 with a stock 06 Eclipse GT. Now I'm gonna call B.S. This car weighs about 200lbs more than the Stang, plus I have over 60lbs ft/tq on him. Have you guys seen any 14.0, or even faster than a 14.5 in a new Eclipse? I've read and heard they are between 14.6-14.8 stock, with the autos being a tad bit slower. What's the deal on this car, can you guys help me out? Oh yeah, he also said that FWD is better than RWD when it comes to racing, I told him launching a FWD car is alot harder than he thinks, and he used to have a Turbo'd Ecotec Sunfire, so you would think he would know.

Most of the time I hear those cars running 14.5s with a really good driver. With a hell of a good driver/factory freak you might be able to run a 14.3-4 but thats about it. FWD sucks period. I thought those new Eclipses were 6 speeds?

Hard to believe, considering how much they weigh, but they can run mid to high 14's.
Pretty respectable.

The specs I seen when I looked them up showed the new Eclipse just under 3500lbs. I thought they were mid 14's at best, but this guy was tellin me how they are low 14's and one guy ran a 14 flat.

I met him on an Ecotecforum, he used to live in New Jersey, but recently moved to the Nashville area, which is about 45 minutes or so away from us and he wants to meet within the next few days and run em, but he is off until Saturday, but I dont have a day off until Sunday, but I will definately meet up with him whenever I go to Nashville again.

point tho is... any kid who thinks fwd is better doesnt know simple physics... its easier to push then it is to pull. the only time fwd wins is in the snow.
