S'up, I've got a touchy-feely question for you all...I've had my Mustang for 2 weeks. I almost love it more than my boyfriend (kidding, honey!), but...I've been experiencing a phenomenon I never expected. When I roll up next to another Stang, the driver pretends to not notice me. (How can they not notice another Stang, OK?) I am naturally friendly and curious, and I'd like to comment/ask Q's on what they've done as far as mods, or at least give a thumbs up in brotherhood (or sisterhood), but no way. In fact, it's like they don't acknowledge any other Mustang on the road with them. Tonight I was on I-5 with a wide open stretch, next to a Cobra, and I figured he's want to open it up with me. I passed him and slowed, then hit it but he stayed back at 65. I felt so alone...:-)
It's cool, but is there some culture I'm unaware of? We also have an Isuzu VX, and everytime we come across another one, we always end up pulling over to check out eachothers vehicles, compare mods, etc.

I think it totally depends on the person who's driving the other car. Not everyone that drives a Mustang is totally into Mustangs like everyone here is. I've experienced the same thing before... I pulled up beside a guy in an '03 or '04 GT at a redlight. He had a couple of girls in the car with him and they were f*cking with me something fierce. I think they were making fun of my choice of music (Metallica's One was playing.. and I couldn't help but turn the stereo up loud). I had my windows down at the time and was about ready to roll them up and continue ignoring them so they would not win at whatever game they were playing, but luckily for me the light turned green and I left them in the dust instead. I don't know why some people are like that.

because they're little punk-ass d!ckheads who think theyre better than you...i wouldnt worry about it. you always have the bad bunch with everything. luckily, i think theres more friendly 'Stang owners who give the thumbs up and wanna talk and run for fun, instead of the haters who know you look better in your car than what they do in theirs.

I've noticed in Va a lot of the stang owners (everyone and their mother has one here) have it just to say they have a stang...I see so many on the road and it doesn't look like they appreciate what they have...well welcome to the forum...

I can sympathize with the plight. There is some comradary between fbody owners (And a few vettes), but there should be more than there is! Usually, when I see another fbody or a vette I look over at them and they look over at me, but rarley a thumbs up. We simply acknowledge the other car. However, that is I started hanging around the local cruising area, because there was another TA owner there.

Thanks for the welcome, this site is awesome! White2000GT had a good point, not everyone who owns a Mustang is as into them as we are. I tend to forget that as I am so totally loving mine.
Yeah, so far I've noticed that the people who are the worst are the ones driving lowered fwd Acuras with big ass spoilers. This has happened more times in the past couple weeks than I can count on my hands: when the light turns green, they take off like a hummingbird outta hell. You go, kiddo, I just can't be bothered...

You actually pull over and check out each other's VX's? Why?

Its nice that you are trying to make convo with the other Mustang owners, but seeing as you are not being responded to, it must mean they are jealous or upset. I know many drivers do not like to acknowledge me becuase of my age and feel jealous that their car doesnt sound as bad ass as mine. Until then, drive like no one else is there and let the other guy handle the introductions.

Around here everyone waves and pulls over to talk about mods and stuff. I think that it is partly because of Beech Bend is a stones throw away, the NMRA world finals are held here so mustangs are a big deal around this area.

get some exhaust mods and rev the engine when your at the light and scare the living crap out of them. theyll notice you then if they jump out of there seat. could also mean you might have a better stang then them and there jealous. who ever said maybe there not into stangs is a poss. cause my first car was a 85 mustang lx 4 cyl and i hated it. it was 300.00 and was the only thing i could afford. it was fugly. dint appreciate mustangs till i bought a 86 gt with a 347 in it and heard it start up. now im a die hard mustang fan. the day i have kids is the day ill buy a 4 door but ill always have a mustang.

You actually pull over and check out each other's VX's? Why?

_____________________________
Why not? If you totally are into your ride, why wouldn’t you want to meet/compare yours with other’s? Do you own a vehicle with a limited US distribution of 5000?
The VX ( more commonly referred as a VehiCross) is a rare vehicle, ergo owners tend to want to check yours out, chew the fat, discuss mods, etc. Ours has a vented hood that is custom, making our VX unique...not to mention the Borla dual exhaust. In my experience, VX'ers love their vehicles more than us Stang owners...but it's more about owning an awesome limited edition cross-over vehicle than a beautiful mass-produced performance vehicle. Yeah, in case there is further confusion on your part, the “crossover” part means it is a cross between a sport performance vehicle and a 4WD SUV. It’s a v6 3.5.
I am partial to my Stang over the VX, but hey, what was your question again???

Yo, I have a 2002 coupe...3.8. I registered previously as "NiceCans", but all in all that psuedonym seemed too suggestive (since I really meant the (oil) cans I have in our garage, but with a little bit of irony...:-) anyway, my plates read nemo (no choice of my own thouigh our 4-yr. old just loves Nemo...and he also, in his infinite 4-yr. old wisdom told me to get a red New Beetle.)
It's been said time and time again that I have a girl-stang! OK,now that I've been on the road with it, I say WTF! Yup, it ain't a 5.0 (next trade-in my boys!) I'm learning about how to make my pony perform at it's best, and I can do my own mod work, so apart from parts, this saves me some duckets as well as insurance rates! Now that I getting used to car payments( haven't has a acr payment ion12 years! OOph!) and incresased insurance premiums, why not move on up to a newer 5.0??? I totally dig the forums here, they have given me advice on mods plus links to "how-to" sites, as well as a general feeling of brotherjood.
Thanks guys...and don't be a hater when I race ya and win...and I'm talking about me challenging you. I got a Stang because I like to win and get noticed ( immature ego-driven motivation, I know, but it still is what it is! I like to win...and so far I haven't lost in a street race.
Don't you thinnk that when I install the CAI and exhaust I'll smoke 'em even better?

Cheers,
D

If I was to wave at every Mustang here in Cali, I would be bigger then the Governor out here! Although I know what you are talking about. Back home, my father has a Porsche and everytime that we pass another one they nod or wave. You mentioned that you were on I5? I take it you are in Cali also?

I was actually asking WHY people check out each other's VX's. I didn't know anyone modded them. So thank you for your explanation.
