Where is the love?
S'up, I've got a touchy-feely question for you all...I've had my Mustang for 2 weeks. I almost love it more than my boyfriend (kidding, honey!), but...I've been experiencing a phenomenon I never expected. When I roll up next to another Stang, the driver pretends to not notice me. (How can they not notice another Stang, OK?) I am naturally friendly and curious, and I'd like to comment/ask Q's on what they've done as far as mods, or at least give a thumbs up in brotherhood (or sisterhood), but no way. In fact, it's like they don't acknowledge any other Mustang on the road with them. Tonight I was on I-5 with a wide open stretch, next to a Cobra, and I figured he's want to open it up with me. I passed him and slowed, then hit it but he stayed back at 65. I felt so alone...:-)
It's cool, but is there some culture I'm unaware of? We also have an Isuzu VX, and everytime we come across another one, we always end up pulling over to check out eachothers vehicles, compare mods, etc. |
RE: Where is the love?
I think it totally depends on the person who's driving the other car. Not everyone that drives a Mustang is totally into Mustangs like everyone here is. I've experienced the same thing before... I pulled up beside a guy in an '03 or '04 GT at a redlight. He had a couple of girls in the car with him and they were f*cking with me something fierce. I think they were making fun of my choice of music (Metallica's One was playing.. and I couldn't help but turn the stereo up loud). I had my windows down at the time and was about ready to roll them up and continue ignoring them so they would not win at whatever game they were playing, but luckily for me the light turned green and I left them in the dust instead. I don't know why some people are like that.

RE: Where is the love?
because they're little punk-ass d!ckheads who think theyre better than you...i wouldnt worry about it. you always have the bad bunch with everything. luckily, i think theres more friendly 'Stang owners who give the thumbs up and wanna talk and run for fun, instead of the haters who know you look better in your car than what they do in theirs. ;)

RE: Where is the love?
I've noticed in Va a lot of the stang owners (everyone and their mother has one here) have it just to say they have a stang...I see so many on the road and it doesn't look like they appreciate what they have...well welcome to the forum... ;)

RE: Where is the love?
I live in dearborn, mi
big ford country here... everyone seems to own a mustang...i see like 40 yr old ladies driving them, doesn't add to our image...then i see teeny bobers driving around in their V6 Girlstangs, i hate that! |
RE: Where is the love?
I can sympathize with the plight. There is some comradary between fbody owners (And a few vettes), but there should be more than there is! [:o] Usually, when I see another fbody or a vette I look over at them and they look over at me, but rarley a thumbs up. We simply acknowledge the other car. However, that is I started hanging around the local cruising area, because there was another TA owner there.

RE: Where is the love?
I get more thumbs up from none Mustang, and none Ford drivers. Thats why I joined a local Mustang club. [sm=icon_rock.gif]

RE: Where is the love?
Thanks for the welcome, this site is awesome! White2000GT had a good point, not everyone who owns a Mustang is as into them as we are. I tend to forget that as I am so totally loving mine.
Yeah, so far I've noticed that the people who are the worst are the ones driving lowered fwd Acuras with big ass spoilers. This has happened more times in the past couple weeks than I can count on my hands: when the light turns green, they take off like a hummingbird outta hell. You go, kiddo, I just can't be bothered... RE: Where is the love?
Its nice that you are trying to make convo with the other Mustang owners, but seeing as you are not being responded to, it must mean they are jealous or upset. I know many drivers do not like to acknowledge me becuase of my age and feel jealous that their car doesnt sound as bad ass as mine. Until then, drive like no one else is there and let the other guy handle the introductions.
