Default What all the numbers mean on the Cam's????

I was just wondering if someone could help me out on what the heck all those numbers mean when i'm lookin for a new cam. Thanks.

get an f303 if you have a 5 spd... you will love it

Don't get that. I've heard plenty of bad things about the FRPP "alphabet" cams.

ha ha, no one has answerd his question.

Well, the .496 or numbers like that, are the lift specs. A .500 lift would be half an inch.
the other number is duration, as in, how long it keeps the valve open. however, so if it was osmething like 220, it'd mean that the valve stays open for 220 degrees of crankshaft rotation.

fords letter series cams are ok,but are outdated..theres better

sorry to hijack the thread...but i was planning on getting the f303 cam and since u said that its not all that great, what would be a good cam that is relatively the same but better performance? i love the choppy idle the f303 cam gives.

don't waste your money on a custom cam...there are plenty of off the shelve cam to fit you need...I could not recommend a cam without knowing all the specs of the car....a dual pattern cam would be a better fit as ford engine like most need mpre lift on the exhaust side when not running nitrous
