ok, my first car...1966 mustang coupe 2bbl 289 v8. i obtained this car a few months ago and never had much of a problem. but the other night my alternator froze, breaking 2 belts, and overheating my radiator. we replaced the alternator, the 2 belts, and refilled the radiator. i had to drive it down to LA a couple hours later...driving about 65 the whole time. anyways, ever since the alternator problem my temperature gauge has been in the middle between hot and cold. but whenever i'm idle, like at a light, it increases to hot, and becomes dangerously close to overheating again. i don't have a fan housing to cool my radiator, and i'm wondering if that would solve my problem. if not then what would?...i have another problem with my transmission, but that one might be a little harder to explain, so e-mail if you can help with that. chancesareleaving@yahoo.com. thank you very much.

This is a shot in the dark, but when your radiator overheated the first time it might have burned off and thrown grime and whatnot into the waterjackets in the block, causing a clog. I'd take it in and have a coolant flush professionally done. Get a fan shroud as well.
