I test drove a bone stock 99 Cobra today, and it felt a lot slower than I had imagined.
This car has the horsepower fix. I saw the sticker in the engine bay.
Is there anything else that would sap power from the car? Or is it just that I dont know how to drive it right yet??
The car seems to be in excellent shape. It has 42K on it.
What RPM are these magazine guys launching at to pull high 13's in these things? My last car was a mid-13-second WRX, which felt much faster. I'm hoping I just need to get used to the car.
Was anybody else initially disappointed with their Cobra's power?
Also, does anybody have a dyno plot from a stock 99-01 Cobra?

RE: Test Drove 99 Stang (with Fix) Car Felt Slow???
The 99 Cobra come with 320 hp at the flywheel if im not mistaken. If you take away the drivetrain loss you equal out about 272hp to the rear wheels. They aren't that great at all. I dyno'd mine at 276 RWHP.

a high 13sec car shouldnt really feel "fast", because thats really not fast
It didn't feel like a high-13's car.
But everybody is telling me you have to beat the dogsh!t out of these things to make them go, and that it's because of the stock gearing.
I'm thinking I'd better switch to 4.10's.
