I've noticed that when you shift at about 5500 RPM's, you get a better second gear rip and launch. Becareful though, anything after that and you will miss second gear and grind.

I don't know if it's ideal or not, but I can shift into 2nd right at redline as quick as the stock shifter will let me and I haven't ground it yet. It chirps the tires, so it's not like I'm babying it. The car is bone stock too. I would think shifting at 6000 is what Ford had in mind, but I'm a noob so what do I know

When racing at the track I take it as far is it can go. Usually around 6500 RPM's. I redline at 6800 with my tune.
