Is it a T5 manual or AODE auto?

AODE. I don't know if it'll work with a 302, though.

I have never heard of a non-brand name car....would that be like a Fred's Fun Wagon?

if its a 6 then its the 4R70W which is an AODE, any why you would want to waste your time with a 302 swap is beyond me

The AODE that mates your 3.8 has the same six bolt pattern as used on 302s Windsors, Clevelands and 250,300 inline sixes.
It's a direct bolt on swap as long as you use the larger flexplate with 164 teeth.
This tranny is computer controlled but stand alone computers are available to run it independant of your cars PCM. $$$
