Hey, just wondering if there is anyone here who has ever raced a 3000GT VR4? I once tried to get a dude in an SL to race me but he wouldn't do it. He had his girlfriend in the car with him and I think he didn't want to get embarrased. I know I can take out an SL, but I don't think I could take out a VR4.
I've wondered the same... hopefully you will get some word on this because i'm curious too... My friends dad has one.. but he wont race me, not cause he's scared he just wont race.
I always thought it would own me but... www.car-stats.com the vr4 wasnt very impressive to me... I dont wnat to trust that though. I wanna see for myself

Isnt there a VR4 Jetta? Thats what was on back of this guys Jetta that come up next to me that wanted to race. I was cruising in second at about 25 to 30mph (right in my powerband) and he comes screaming up next to me and says "lets go for it" so I say ok, go... I sat there looking at him like a smartass. Finally he hit the gas and I heard the turbo whind up so I stomped it and left the guy eating my exhaust. I slowed down and got back next to him and I asked him where he was at, that I dont like racing alone and his girl almost died laughing at him. Just my little story.
Great story jdan! And great kills for you and Mach1. I checked out that website that czwalga00gt posted. I know enough not to meddle with a VR4.... yet. Thanks for the info!
the older ones is a pretty close race, the newer ones would be a win for him. Most 3kGTs by now with loyal owners aren't going to be stock.
On to another note... I don't know why you guys think that "people don't want to race cause their girlfriends are with them and they don't want to be embarrassed." Most of the time if I do race someone it's for the fun of it, I'm never embarrassed for losing. In fact, I usually expect to lose to cars that are pretty close to even with me. He probably didn't want to race his SL because he really didn't give a crap about street racing and possibly losing his license or killing someone.

In response to your other note, I just like to hear myself say it. LOL! Well, that and the fact that while I was behind him on a two lane road he was driving fast and kept trying to put distance between us. And then when we both made a right turn onto a four lane, wide-open road, and I pulled into the other lane and pulled up beside him he was looking straight forward. Then I felt a sudden urge to show him once and for all who was the king of that road. So I did.
I agree.. i really dont think they are scared of being embarrased. I know my EX girlfriend refused to let me race with her in the car. Which is perfectly understandable.

I agree. I never drive fast if someone is in the car with me... especially my wife or kids. I wouldn't even think of it. To be honest though, I could care less if the guy was embarrased or not. Like I said, I just said it to hear myself say it. No offense to anyone who may have gotten a little spun up about it.
