On modernracer.com manual vs manual the V6 Stang wins by .1 second (they didn't have auto numbers for the GTI). It would probably be a driver's race.

Auto and manual GTI's are virtually the same as it uses a DSG automatic, which pretty much completly replicates a manual. The DSG also doesn't incur any more drivetrain loss then a manual does, plus its 6-sp like the manual...a really nice tranny.

I agree it'll be close, if they go from a dig. From a high roll the GTI will pull.

Check out my post "What I learned tonight..."

A new GTI kicked my a$$ on the highway and kept up with what I think was a 2000 Camaro SS.

GTI's with the "Automatic" DSG are faster than the standard manual GTI's, something like 0.2s faster in 0-60. A DSG version should be good for a mid 6s from 0-60, and a high 14 in the quarter. And if its chipped they're not pushing out 200hp anymore, probobly closer to 250hp/300lbft. I'd put my money on the GTI, I've heard people in GT's having trouble beating modded GTI's.

50 hp from a chip? what the fu........ we talking diesel here or something?

u jumped from 200/207 to 250/300? think more like 205-210/215ish. especially with no bolt ons, we are talking minimal gains on any car with a tune.

Go look around dude, you'll find the same story with the VW 1.8T. My girlfriend has a beetle that was 150hp stock and with just a chip is up to over 210hp on 93octane.

do you have dyno sheets to support this? or is it the ass dyno thats tellin u that? a chip alone is almost worthless on a stock car. the new GTs dont even see 50 hp gains (and bugs for sure dont, the 1.8T pretty much sucks. ive seen them completely worked hittin 200whp ) they see around 20ish hp. if a 4.6 3v only sees 20 hp from a complete dyno tune, a 2.0T isnt going to see 50, and for sure not 93 ft/lbs, from a standardized bastardized chip.

btw (ftw? )

if SCT tells you that their chip can add up to 20 hp (which nobody even advertises 50 hp tunes for the GTIs.... theres ur first indication to rethink your numbers, as companies always overrate their after market parts) it probably add somewhere between 50-70% of that value. add supporting mods like flow and you will start to realize the advertised numbers from your parts. but 50 hp from a chip and 93 ft lbs..... thats just silly. i think you should go look around [8D]

You don't know anything about VW's...

I know have a dozen people who have 1.8T's and 2.0T's well into the 13's. And I've seen plenty 1.8T's in the 12's. Believe what you want, but it is EASY to gain 40+hp on turbo VW/Audi motors with ONLY an ecu upgrade.
