Default C&L Guys come in

Has anyone experienced any rattling from their heat shield for the air filter? Ever since I installed the intake and tune I have been having this slight rattle issues and it is not pinging. I been trying to chase this down and it's driving me crazy[:@]It's almost sounds like it could also be the heat shield in the middle of the car that covers the exhaust. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. And I put some dynamat on the bottom of the heat shield and it still didn't help.

Hmmmm, did you take one of those little black plastic strap ties and run it through the hole in the air filter shield and secure it to something? I did and it stopped the vibration of the air filter shield. If you did then I'm not sure what else it could be if everything is tight. Maybe one of the clamps to you pipes are loose under the car??

Tough one bro.

Yeah definately make sure you zip tied the heatshield down like in the directions...when I installed mine I cranked her up before I tied all that down it had a slight vibration from the engine torquing in the engine bay.

YES!!!!!

Mine rattles. Not a heavy rattle. But a light almost buzzing ratter coming from the left front of the car. Almost thought it was in the left side of the dash, but it is too muted and I am 90% certain it is the shield at this point.

I really wonder if the shield actually does anything usefull. IMO, it looks like crap and fits just as bad. It wobbles all over the place and is a rattle source.

I am going to pull it into the garage soon and see what I can do about it. It also is pressing pretty hard on the top of the intake pipe and is putting a pretty nice wear mark on it so at the minimum some rubber is needed there to cover the edge.

I have a rattle similiar to what youre describing.. its not really a rattle so to speak but more of a vibrating sound.. I had that way before I got my C&L though.. Im pretty sure its my drivers side dash. Someone mentioned it might be where the dash connects to the A pillar... maybe thats your source too?

Yea I guess a vibrating sound could be the best word to describe it. I took the heat shield all the way off and drove around the block and the noise is still there. It is for sure coming from the left side of the car[sm=dontgetit.gif]

My suggestion:
Take it off. Re-install it. Maybe something was rubbing? Missing a screw? Screw fell out? It will take all of about 15 minutes to re-install.

Not- No probs after securing the shield with the zip straps to help shake. No problem with the hose under either, not touching.

when i would start my car, certain RPM's would make the heat sheilds on the catalitic converters rattle, i took it to exhaust pro, and they re welded them. . . fixed!

besides that, no rattling

the reason i mention this is cuz you could confuse it with something under the hood. . .
