Are you using a wet or dry kit. Not much experience with the 3.8, but a rule of thumb generally is that you want to back the timing off a couple of degrees and increase the octane rating. Your car would be fine with 93 octane, but I definitely would not be spraying on 87. You can probably get away with it for a while or you'll hear stories of some guy who knows some guy who sprayed a 200 shot on 86 octane for five years straight and never had a single problem, but I would not risk it. Besides, you got a Cobra now, put that kit on the snake and put the Sixer on daily driving duty.
