I think you may be mis-informed about the Z4.

the z4 3.0l does 0-60 in 4.9 sec. that's the same as the cobra isn't it? I thought maybe 1/4 would be close...

Z4....4.9 Seconds 0-60?? Are you sure you're not confusing it with the Z8?

The Z4 is no challenge for an 03 Cobra.

that's what everyone says! 0-60 in 4.9 maybe that was when they were coming out with it someone just thought that's what they would do...what do they do? like 5?

Try 5.4-5.9 seconds. And quater mile in low to mid 14's. Its only got 225 hp from a dohc inline-six. It is a pretty quick car. It beats the Porsche Boxter(not boxter s). But since it starts at just under $34,000, i'd much rather have a new Cobra.

The M3 has a 5.0? It's a 3.2L, 333hp I-6. The coupe does 0-60 in 4.65, and the 1/4 in 13.18. These stats are from motor trends 2002 year model "top 27" test.

I think the M5 has a 5.0L in it though.

Just out of curiosity what kind of times are the new cobra running? They're in the mid to high 12's right? Ive never seen one race.

Magazine racing... Never trust a magazines times.

An M3 is NO MATCH for even a stock 03 Cobra let alone a pullied one. The M5 is a bit closer but the Cobra still edges it out. I've driven an M5 extensively back to back with my 03 Cobra when it was stock. I've also driven a M Roadster. The roadster was more fun than the M5but the power of an 03 Cobra is just crazy. It just seems to pull to no end.

I didnt mean to imply that the m3 or the m5 were any match for the cobra. I know the cobras are bad ass. Just didnt know what kind of times they are pulling. I just was trying to correct the m3 has a 5.0 statement. I know the m3 will do all of 13's in the 1/4, Ive seen it many times at MIR(Md. int'l raceway), I just havent seen a cobra race the 1/4 since I dont live in Md. anymore. I have heard high 11's and low 12's from numerous folks though, what are the real times coming from someone who has one.

It's all good. I've seen an 03 Cobra do 12.2 with a headwind at California Speedway. All he had was a 2.80" pulley, chip and slicks. Oh, and a little K&N filter. A guy in 5.0 Mag did 11.89 with exactly the same mods although I wasn't there to witness it. It's not magazine racing since it was an official time from a track. On a side note, I wasn't implying that the M3 or M5 were slow...on the contrary, they were fast and very fun especially the M3 Roadster. If I had the money and if the Roadster had rear seats, I probably would have gotten one. I'm glad I didn't though cuz I'm crazy about my Cobra. Quality isn't as good as the Bimmer but not too shabby for $34K.
