Default Raced a GT500 at the track!

Hey all, went to the 1/8th mile track on Friday for Midnight Madness (Clarksville Tn). I made a few passes and watched a new GT500 make a couple of passes. We met up in the pits and he agreed to go heads up with me a couple of times. Suprisingly enough, I took him on both runs! I ran an 8.70 and a 8.72. Unfortunately because it was street legal shootout rules on a pro tree, we did not get time slips on the competitors runs. He did tell me afterwards that he was very dissappointed in the car and was probably going to see what it would bring on e-bay.[X(]

A lot of it was driver I am sure, as he had only made a few runs in the car since he got it and was having a lot of trouble off the line, but it sure felt good!

Those are decent times......maybe the GT500 owner didn't know how to launch his ride...he shouldn't of had trouble beating you if he was a good (like you) driver.....maybe you should've ask to drive his car(to teach him some pointers) and see what it'll do in your hands. A win is a win though...great job!

I really hope he couldnt launch or this just ends up showing that ford cant make a really good performance car anymore. (besides our GTs of course)

Congrats, definitely gives you something to brag about!!!

I predicted some time ago that there were going to be a lot of stories like this one, tons of power isn't going to serve a bad driver well. Plus the Shelby is a great example of a car that responds well to minor tweaking. Instead of selling it on eBay that clown should be investing in a tune, some drag radials and some driving lessons. Then he'd be kicking a$$ & taking names at the strip.

What do these 1/8ths translate into 1/4 wise? My fastest 1/4 run so far was a 13.58 and it was a 8.8 1/8th.. that seems slow to me, should I be doing 1/4's faster?
