how fast are the 06 v6's?

i drive my sisters (its auto) every once in awhile and i got on it once on the highway and it pulled decently till alittle over 80... it took forever to get to 100 in the car. do they just not have the power to get much over 100 or something? haha.

cars are goverend based on the tire ratings... if your tires from the factory are rated at 120mph, you're going to be goverend around 110. Safety first people!

Then why are GT's governed at 150mph. Don't they come from the factory with "Z" rated tires?

xxkazp3rxx: Are Cobras governed as well?

I know you didn't ask me, C6 Vette, but I've read that the 03-04 Cobras are governed to limit top speed to 158mph. And since a bone stock 03 Cobra will hit 150 mph in 30.5 seconds (according to Car and Driver), you can hit that limit pretty quickly if you're a speed-crazed maniac.

I've heard that this is due to the tire speed ratings, but I've also head that the cars simply aren't safe at such high speeds without a wing to provide more downforce on the rear, such as on the 2000 Cobra R's (which have an ungoverned top speed of about 176mph).
