If you have close to this set-up, you probably already have figured out that I need to know what is the maximum valve lift I can use with the 2.02" valves with the '69 pistons (without valve-to-piston clearance issues)? If someone can tell me lift limitations, I can then narrow the field in cam selection.
Please feel free to share your ideas!
Oh Yeah, I forgot to mention that I'm already running the above combination with a camshaft measuring at .470" valve lift... runs fast, but I need more !

I believe that the duration of my current camshaft is 270deg. Any suggestions for duration on my daily driver? Are we thinking maybe, longer duration and close or equal to the same lift? How, would longer duration effect performance versus higher lift if I chose to go that route?

My current cam in the 408w is a 280 @ .006"
I dreamed up the specs on it and had Comp Cams grind it.
I could have done better by going more lift & duration. Up to 300 at .006 seems to be good for power, but I don't know how it will idle. I figure the tweecer can tame it as long as I don't get too carried away.
It is pretty docile and I was running it as a daily driver for about 10k miles.
That sure made the commute nice.
Thanks again!! You guys are a huge help. I'm checking out that link for Camshaft Innovations for sure, r.barn. When I have all my stuff together, I'll update.
In the meantime, it would be great to keep it comming. Including anyone else out there!
Thanks again and again.
BTW...
My ride is a '79 pacecar with the above motor mods, including BBK longtubes, T5 tranny, 8.8 rear, Cragar Protecs and more...
Have a great long Weekend!

Well I had a very interesting weekend... Long story short, Me and my family were headed on a camping trip in the 'stang when my clutch cable broke. Anyways, another Mustang loyal pulled over to help and had a spare cable a couple of blocks away in his garage! He had a very serious 88gt powered by the same '69 351 I'm running.
The story applies to this post here...
We discussed cam selection for my combination and he has run Ford Racing Camshaft Part# M-6250-A351, with at least the minimum clearance of .090"-.100" without any modification to the stock valve reliefs. The camshaft measures at .520" intake lift and .538" exhaust! He is positive that the camshaft fit. I may not necessarily run this camshaft, but it does give me a good idea of valve lift limitations.
Anyone want to comment? Anyone know different?
