I'd really like to hear what the dealership would give for your car Rygen lol And that brings a question to me about Scrming, I know he did the motor swap. Is there some rule about having matching numbers to sell the car, or just a large depreciation? It really has no effect on scrmings car in 99% of the time sale wise or depreciation wise either, the only time matching numbers really matter is on collector cars value wise like old muscle cars, classics etc. Scrming car it doesn't mater and he does not even even have to mention it’s a different motor when he sells it. On Rygens car very rare will a dealer offer more for a modded or FI car they would most likely offer him around 15K regardless of the turbo in about 90% of the time. Hey Rygn if you decide for some reson to trade it in PM me first let me know how much they offer I could catch a plane Monday with C-Check in hand your only a few states away. :) LOL. Thanks man, but I'm a bit attached to Stella...nope, wont be selling her!

Well, I went to the Ford dealership today. When I called at 1pm they had 4 cars left, when I got there tonight, they had 1. It was a sonic blue gt, automatic with leather, but no other frills. First impression was, it's a very pretty car! I liked the pony type wheels, though they did look a little small on there. It was time for a drive. Got in with the salesperson... wow, it was a good bit faster than my six, I realized pretty quickly though, how much I really like my car - the mycolor dash and the 5-speed manual. It looked so blank in there with the three buttons on the left over the stereo being empty. I guess the car had been sitting in one spot for a really long time, because the tires felt like they had flat spots, and the steering wheel shook pretty good when I applied the brakes. We got together in the sales room, I decided if they couldn't match the payment I was already making, i wouldn't make the deal. They asked if I would pay 1500 down, and 380 a month. I said no. * was immediately offended at the $15,000 trade in vale they gave me, as my car is pretty much loaded* nothing down and $340/mo and that's my final offer. I grabbed my keys and was walking out, and they stopped me and asked if I would pay 360 a month. Nope. To be honest, I am kind of relieved. It just wasnt what I wanted. My 05 was the first s197 i drove, and still my favorite I have driven. I called another dealer, told them to cut the bs, told them what I want - a loaded v6 vert, or a gt manual.. and I would have to drive the manual... they said they would locate me one, and if they could meet the deal, they would call me. We shall see. Hindsight though: IUP is a NICE thing. I love my dash, interior, I love my 5 speed. My v6 actually seems refined to me now! Now, if it just had 300 horsepower and felt a little more solid... All in all, I dont suffer from the gt envy as much anymore. I am pretty happy with what I got. I still need to figure out my exhaust rattle, and the dash rattles... But i realized I would really miss my car, and actually be sad if I traded her in!

It sounds like a good thing you passed on that one. I agree with you on the IUP, I LOVE IT, loved in my sixxer and never considered not getting it in the GT, it was a must! I'm amazed that they sold 3 GTs that quickly, this 0.0% deal is really moving cars it sounds like.

A saleswoman there told me they have moved 200 cars this week. She it was tiring, and I said, yeah, and lots of money too. She just smiled and nodded. I would love a GT, don't get me wrong, but it would have to have a few of the comforts I want. Looks like that might be out of my reach. Now a Loaded pony pkg convertible, i might be able to get. My first car was a convertible. I still think about that car all of the time. 1965 impala ss convertible. I loved that car.. This car is the first since to evoke some emotion close to it.

Yesterday I went to my local ford dearler. I went there to test drive a Mustang GT. The only reason I was interested in the GT is due to the fact of the current offering of 0% interest for 72 months, and the v-8, and the new warranty. This particular GT is torch red and has a 5 speed manual with all the goods(leather seating, interior upgrade package, side seat airbags, anti-theft system, pony spinners, & wheel locking kit). The MSRP is $28,725. I test drove the GT thru a back road and through my neighborhood. I noticed this car has a tight and responsive suspension. The sound of the 4.6 3-valve igniting to life is remarkable. I have not started a GT since the last day I owned a GT, and that was back in January. Alas, I missed the exhiliation and rumble of a v-8. I traded in my 1999 Mustang GT convertible for the current car I own now, a 2005 Mustang v6. My 2005 accelerates almost comparitively as my old GT. Nonetheless, turning the key to start the 06' GT brought back fond memories of my old 99' GT. After the drive we went to the saleman's office to crunch numbers. Can you believe that my 2005 Mustang V6, with 19,000 miles, is only appraised at $13,500? And my car is paid off. I felt deeply sickened at this number. Back in April my car was appraised at $18,000 with 14,000 miles. Can you believe that in four months my car has depriciated $4,500? I am upset and sad with this margin. $4,500 in depreciation!!! Well after this I endevoured to reduce the price of the 06 GT . My salesperson says that the GT is a "hot" commodity and rarely sees discounts. After persuading him to lower the price he walks to, who do you think?, the sales manager. He came back and the sales manager can only reduce the price of the GT by $500, to a sale price of $28,275. To make the story short, the dollar amount I had to finance the difference from the 06' GT from my final trade-in value came to, $14,256.00 (after tax, title, regristaion, dealer fees ($199.00 -what the heck)) . So at 0% interest for 72 months, my monthly payment was going to be $198.00. I thought, hmmmm, only $198.00 for the next 72 months. Or shall I say 6 years. WOW! Only $198.00 per month for a Mustang GT with manual transmission. Now if I was not thinking rational I would have signed the dotted line and the new GT would be in my garage as I type this post. However, I declined the offer. I thought to myself. I would be going to not having a car payment to having a car payment for 6 years. So I thought to myself, the only big difference is the engine and transmission, and optional equipment. So instead of trading in my 05, I will now personalize and modify my 05. Oh, the opportunity cost! Congratulations to those of you who have purchased a GT. It is a very brillant car!

WindVeil and 2005CStripe.... There are other advantages to waiting... Ford is going to have to goose the Mustang, either in 2008 or 2009. I love my 6er, but I do want a GT at some point. That point will probably be 2008 or 2009. My sixer is plenty good to use for 2-3 years. Also, you have to have the time to sell privately. Dealers just hose you on trade-ins. If your car is in nice shape, you can get a good deal selling private. My car will probably have 12,000 miles on it in 2-3 years, so I will look to really exploit the low mileage. If you wait, then YOU can be one of the folks with the hot new Mustang.... blowing off GT's at every opportunity!

The Mustang is just like the old musclecars that I loved so much, and it's great to be back in one!! quote:

Sounds like they lowballed you on the trade-in and they definitely were hosing you on the GT price. 2006 GTs should be going for invoice price at this point to move them off the lots. You did the right thing walking away.

Just got a call back from my dealer. He said he will get me in the same white GT (premium package) you got for 0% and 72 months. I guess white is a popular color at dealerships. That's the only '06 they had left. The special finance rate only applies to '06's I guess. My wife is pissed because it's $100 more a month.

They offered me 15k for mine today. Of course, its a hardtop. I think they don't xcare right now, as they are selling them out. There are almost no 06's left as of noon today in Birmingham, AL. Last week, they were all over the place, and they couldn't move them off the lots. Supply vs. demand. It's rough.

So I made the jump today! I was so nervous about letting my V6 go! I went to one dealership were my cousin works, and they appraised my car at 14,500$. I owe 19,300$ and have 23,086 miles on my 2005. They found a black GT for me and it was 27K$. I wanted to get a black on black GT with the same setup as my V6, black leather with grey inserts - grey stripes - dash kit. The GT will have all that, plus a shaker 500. I told them I could not make a deal with them because they would not give me enough for my V6. So I went to the next dealership where I had a friend working. I showed him the GT I wanted and what the other dealership was going to sell it to me for. I lied and told him the other dealership was going to give me 15,500$ for my V6. So they matched that deal and dropped 1,800$ off the price of the GT! I will be cashing in my extended warranty (1,895$), so I ended up getting the GT for 30K$ after adding lowjack and Gap insurance. I highly recommend getting the Gap insurance if you are going to carry over negative equity! I turned down getting an extended warranty this time because I am going to some mods to it. Me and my girlfriend went back to the lot to say goodbye to the V6. I miss it already! It was a great car. I now love the power and handling of the GT. I can't wait to get it cloned like my V6!

$3500 off the sticker + $14,000 for a no option 06v6 here. Whatever you do, don't let them convince you that the 06 GT's are a "hot commodity" or "They can't keep them on the lots" or "They started the day with 15, and they're already down to 8... those cars won't be there tommorow" I went up to a place called Champion Ford, walked in the door, asked them how much off sticker they'd do, and they said "We'll give you either 0% or $1500 off sticker", We laughed and walked off... sales manager walks up as we are going to my car, "I'm sorry sir, we can add in an extra $500 more but that's the best we can do, I've already sold 4 of these 06 GT's today, and we'll be out of cars by tommorow I promise you!" we laughed a little more and got in the car. 2 days later, "Hi this is Mike Murphy from Champion Ford, we're ready to make a deal." So now I sit looking out my window admiring my 06 GT in Torch Red, thinking about how we could have easily paid an extra $5000 for the same car.
