My dash has collected a lot of dust, and I've never really cleaned it besides with some damp paper towels.. Then my buddy applied Armorall to the passenger side of the dash, and it made it look 100 times better, it doesnt look nearly as dull, looks like a nice shiny black But then I read online that armorall is bad and it will eventually lead to cracking? What products would you recomment for a plastic dashboard?
Armor all will crack it. I used some NXT Tech wax on ours once and it made it really shiny. THe only problem I had was the guage bezel was so shiny that it reflected in the windshield and I couldnt see the stop light. Luckily it was green.

i have heard that armorall isnt the best for your car but it wont hurt it after just that one application IMO. If you go to Pep-Boys or another local parts store you will find a lot of interior cleaners. I use Meguires Quick Interior Detailer Wipes but there are a lot of sprays that work well too. I have one that I really like ill get back to you with the name of it.

Someone posted something about armor all a while ago saying that it dries stuff out, personally thats all I have ever used on my car and probably will continue to....armor all has been around forever and never heard anything bad about it until I read it on here one day, I think it does a great job on the interior. Just curious rmodel65 why does it dry plastic out and cause it to be brittle?

Armor all does not dry stuff out anymore. It used to have alchohol in it. It is now water based. Another option would be Natural Look. It is a mild cleaner and has UV protectant. It also smells very good(like cherries).
Use meguires to clean the interior and then use this stuff http://www.303products.com/main.php?infopage=protectant . 303 is a uv protectant and is awesome stuff...it also makes everything shiney A lot of people use this on everything...from boats to planes. I buy mine at napa but you can get it online also.

I have to agree with you there. I have never had a problem and if you use it all the time then there is never a chance for your dash or anything else you use it on to crack, since you will keep it moisurized. Now if you use it once in a blue moon that may be a diff. story, but thats all I use. It has oil in it.. Oil Lubricates??? It does make the dash glare off the window more, but If there's glare then thtat means I have my sunglasses on! Ohh By the way....Meguires quick detailer wipes contain some of the same chemicals as armorall!!!!

This is just not true. I've been using armorall for years and my cars dash pads look like brand new after years of use. My 1999 Intrepid that I purchased new still looks like new. Don't believe the rumors.
I have been useing Armorall for years as well and just picked up another bottle of it the other day, it's new & improved with stronger UV protection. Has always worked for me!!!

Another vote for Armorall - I've used it for years on ALL of my vehicles. I use it on the dash, as well as the door panels and all the plastic trim, and I have never had a part dry out and appear to be damaged. I personally love the wet look it provides and will continue to use it.
This year I tried the Meguires Dash protection stuff. It foams up, it shines nice - but it smells horrible and makes the car smell the same way for about 2 weeks So if you must find something other than armorall, I would avoid the Meguires.
I just purchased a bottle of the new Armorall with UV protectant for the dash and trim of my new vert... so I hope the increased sun exposure on my vert here in NC won't harm the dash. I've always trusted Armorall so I trust everything will be ok.

If its only dust you're trying to get rid of and not really wanting to polish anything up to a shine, I use a little duster brush called California Duster. Its a little red brush made just for dusting dashes and consoles and stuff like that. I've seen them at Auto Zone and O'Reilly but I picked mine up at Walmart for around 10 dollars a year ago and it still works great.

I've been using a California Duster for about 10 years now, but I only use it on the exterior paint. It takes a very light touch to remove dust and maintains a nice shine. I have a new one for my new 2007 Mustang GT and I use the old one to clean the wheels of all the brake dust. I would not recommend using the same one for paint and wheels.
V6madman, is the one you use a smaller version for the interior. Mine is like 18" or 20" long including brush and handle. It would be to big and clumsy for the Mustang's interior.
