Default HOW TO: Side Skirt Install

Ok so whats involved? i have my side skirts coming, so do i just pretty much pull out the retainers that are in front and the whole side skirt comes off? can i reuse the retainers? and are their any hidden screws i need to know about before i do this on my own? from the looks of it, it looks pretty simple an di only see 3 retainers holding it on idont really see anything in the back holding on. Sorry if i look like a noob i just dont want to go into this and find out i need to go buy retainers after i took the skirt off.

EDIT: Changed title to make it a sticky.

there are also retainers on the bottom of the side skirt. Just remove them and it should pop off.

there are alot of "christmas trees" underneath, these wont come off... just pull em down as much as possible... then there are clips on the side of the skirt that hold it to the side... these can pop off... in my pictures it kinda shows you what to expect... there are 2 pins in the front of the skirt.. its pretty easy to uninstall and install... you wont break anything if you try... I didnt know what the hell i was doing, and it came out pretty quick...

** dont mind the mud stains, I DO live on a Farm, and it gets kinda muddy when it rains alot...

The lower fasteners (trees) are really a bear to get off without snapping them. When I pulled my skirts off all the fasteners slid through the slot in th skirt and remained on the car. I then used some pliers to wiggle and pull them off and tried not to break them. I broke two or three and the rest looked downright ugly after removal. I did reuse all the fasteners that didn't break and my skirts have been on for 3 weeks now with no issues. I still need to stop by AUtozone and get some extra fasteners for the 2 or 3 I didn't replace since I broke them.

Good luck ...

I didnt reuse my christmas trees.. by yanking them out, you force the fins to break and go in the opposite direction. I just ordered a bag of 8 at my dealership (it was expensive) and used 4 for each side.

yes ... you definitely need them ... like I said .. mine looked like crap when I pulled them out but they are holding fine. The autoparts store or auto body supply stores definitely sell them cheaper than Ford ...
