I'd like to get a 6 CD changer, but I really don't understand how those work and I know most have a trunk console that comes with them... does this mean you have to put your CDs in the trunk part everytime you want to change them? Anyway I'm looking to spend 200 dollars max, what can you guys recommend?
I wish i wouldve gotten a shaker instead of the tiny output the base stereo puts out. It aint that bad its a decent stereo but a shaker is a nice head unit to have. I personally wouldnt even replace it you can hook subs and amps up to it which is what i did on my base.

But if you do replace it go with like an alpine or pioneer head unit those are 2 good brands. You should be able to find a nice 50W head unit at like best buy or something. You could check ebay. And when you go to look for a car kit most the time you cant find an 05-06 car cd player kit. A 2004 F-150 car kit fits our cars also.

Yea in dash 6-CD MP3 changer. Its a pretty impressive system if you ask me. Good quality sound
Well.... I thought the sound from my Shaker 1000 was pretty good until I put a Pioneer head unit in!!! OMG!!! What a difference! Absolutely blew away the Shaker 1000 head unit! Also, i don't know how you have your car setup but if you use the rear deck speakers... they are pretty crappy... I ended up upgrading those too... LOL!
scrmin put it best.. stock is crappy.. aftermarket, even the cehapy stuff tends to be better than stock.. my deck (headunit) is an alpine, and the deck is soo souped up that i cant go past 17 on teh volume without fear of blowing my speakers.. its sooooooo LOUD and the quality is amazing! if im not mistaken, scrming wont go past a certain volume point in his too

I am pretty sure my next purchase will be some 6x8 speakers for the rear deck. If you change the fader to only rear speakers its painfully obvious how bad then paper cone speakers in the back suuuuck.
That is, if my muffler makes the cut, and I don't have to buy another.
paper cones are good clearity if you dont blast them... but who doesnt blast their music... lol ive already gone through one rear speaker.. i had a stock replacement though.. (warrenty)

i replaced mine with the alpine as well and it sounds awesome. i still have the factory speakers and it sounds good and i can only take it to 17 as well. i will blow the factory speakers first and then replace them and put an amp in. i run my satellite radio and ipod through the headunit. replacing the factory radio was the best money spent.
not sure who your question is to but mine is not a cd changer. since having the ipod i just load all my cds on it. i paid $299 for mine.
as far as the CD changer in the trunk..you would mount the changer and then there is wiring that runs from the radio to the cd changer. i had an Expedition that had an aftermarket CD changer but i didn't care much for it. before the mustang i had a pontiac g6 gt that had the 6 cd changer in the radio which was okay.
i forgot to say that the CD changer has a cartridge that you load the CDs into...this is where it was a pain..you have to get out, pop out the cartridge, unload and load the cds. for me it is just easier to have the ipod or MP3 player and load all your CDs on it.

I used to have aftermarket sound in all my previous cars. went through several sets of subs, started at 10's to 12' and several door speaker options. And i havent felt a need to change out my shaker just yet. sure the bass isn't as great as my aftermarket, but it is crisp and clear. Unfortunatly.......................my rear passenger deck went on the frizz last week. Now i should just switch it out with another stock, but this is how my old car sound projects started......
