Tonight, I am at a local hangout spot for racing. A GLI gets spanked by an LS2 Goat and the rider in the GLI starts talking to me. I ask him if he wants to run a "rustang" and he agrees. He does have to go home to get his car. Oh yes, his car..... VW Jetta w/ T4 turbo at 13 lbs. of boost, ported head and cams. I agree to run him. Eventually he leaves to get it and we get run out of the hangout spot. Well, what do you know, I run into him and the crew at a gas station. I finish my food and approach him and ask if we are still running???
"So, are we still running tonight?" "No, I can't. I DONT HAVE A GAS CAP, and MY BLOW OFF VALVE ISNT HOOKED UP." "You didnt know this when you went to get your car???" "I just cannot race you but, I will fix it and run you NEXT WEEK..." "Oh, ok. Well we will have to do that then...."
I havent EVER heard the gas cap excuse before though. I personally thought that was funny as hell. I guess we will see what will happen 'next week' then. I guess wish me luck or better yet...wish him luck; I think he is going to need it.

Gotcha. I'm just saying, I blew the blow off valve off of my intercooler on my old car once because I didn't tighten the bolts down enough and it conked out and stopped running. It's an important part of the intake system on boosted cars.
