Hmmm...let's see now. 10 years from now, which would hold more of it's original value? Hypothetical comparison here...an '06 GT in Legend Lime or Screaming Yellow (I used those because both colors are discontinued now) versus an '06 V6 Pony Package in Legend Lime or Screaming Yellow - if both are decked out with all the options?
Hmmm...the V6 is looking better and better. But this offer is still sooooooooooo tempting.
If any of you remember reading in school or even experienced the energy crunch of the mid-seventies that made Japanese and European compact cars all the rave, with today's increasing worldwide dependance on fossil fuel it wouldn't surprise me if in ten years the GT will have less real value than a fully optioned V6. Just IMO.
Well as it turns out I didn't get the GT. Ford Credit decided that I needed $2K down because of the $3K neg equity on my car. It sucks but hey I got 24 hrs in a new GT! It's still a great deal for someone out there though.

The dealers must be desperate to clear the 2006's ... they let you take the GT home before Ford approved the credit? Wow ...
They thought it was a done deal and Ford Credit closed while they were trying to process the loan. They said that they had twice as many credit requests since the incentive came out so they were swamped. I have a good rapport with the salesman and since I waited so long the manager let me take the car home. if I would've known the outcome perhaps I would've recreated the valet scene from Ferris Bueller's day off.
Just got back from the dealer - I am a proud new owner of a satin silver 06 GT manual tranny! Yes they found me a manual; after 3 hours of searching; not the color interior I wanted but everything else is exactly what I wanted! Woo hoo! I pick her up tomorrow - I won't sleep a wink tonight (kindof sad to see my pony pkg V6er go even w/ all the problems cause she sure is pretty!).

Congrats ... I'm surprised they found a dealer that would do a swap on a 5-speed ... they seem to be the only 2006 models that are selling ...

lol.... that's not what happened. They pulled the spot delivery scam on you. You can read about it at www.carbuyingtips.com but basically it works out to where they let you take the car home so you fall in love with it even though you aren't approved, then they call you later on after you've become attached to it and say they need more money and most people just pay up. There is no way the dealer wouldn't of known before hand that you would need $2000 down - they appraised your trade in, sold you the car at whaver price, and they already knew the financing rate (0%). You can do this math on a calculator easy. That dealer should be ashamed of themselves. Good job on returning the GT though - you didn't fall for their scam.

Congratulations Wildcat13! We need pics please! Good work sleuthing a car. Around here dealers aren't trading to each other since the incentive started.
DAMNIT! LOL I went in and talked to my local ford dealer and they said it would be $150 more a month beacuse I owe too much more than its worth, and they only would give me 14k for it! GAAAAAY!
Yep, I did the same thing yesterday. Upgraded my 06 V6 coupe to a 06 GT convertible @0% for 72 months and my Dad sells Fords so I got his D-plan discount. My new GT is costing me $50 a month more than I was previously paying. Seems like a great deal to me.
Thanks! I will post pics as soon I pick her up It was a pain finding it and the dealer they got it from is making them buy it from them; they won't trade. The salesman acted like I should be grateful; kindof ticked me off, but I can see what he was saying. He told me (take it w/ a grain of salt though) that I got the last silver manual on the east coast. Thanks for the heads up TNT; I probably never would have gotten a GT if it wasn't for you posting this!!
Just curious...for those that did trade or are going to...specially those who have figured out how much more it will cost them per month over their previous V6...
Dang, that's a long lead in...
Anyways...have you also figured in the extra cost of insuring the GT over your V6? And then how much more a month are you paying?
I got another car! Same except Dk Charcoal int and Bullit wheels. I hope I get to keep this one... At least this one has gone through all of the signing and stuff.
In my case, I was already paying a signifigant amount for my 06 V6 Pony Package coupe as I bought it outright (no trade in) as a second car with no money down. Even the the D-plan pricing that I received as a family member of someone who works for Ford, I was already paying $440 a month for my V6. Now, I pay just under $500 but it's 0% interest for the term of the loan and my new GT stickered for $15,000 more than my 06 V6. When it's all said and done, I'm paying Ford about $4,500 more than I had already commited to them for my V6 and I now have a GT convertible. That being said, given that I've put 3,400 miles on my V6 the last year I'm somewhat confident that my new ride will be worth more $4,500 more than the V6 I traded in 72 months from now. From my perspective, it was a great deal.

good luck with your gt being worth 4500 more then a v6 in 6 years all a 6er might be 5000 bucks and a gt will be 8000 but a modded 6 might fetch a little more to the right buyer
man it will be 2012 when you pay your car off unless you can make double payments or stuff
I tried to get in on the deal and called about 15 dealerships and they were all sold out of the 06 GT with manual trans. One dealer had one but it had 400 miles on it because the manager took it for a beach ride.......
