Default Synthetic is in!

Already a few threads on oil sooo why not one more!

After 4000 on the odo, I'm giving Mobil 1 a try. Matching with the K&N gold filter.

Spent earlier today;

5qt jug of 5w-30 Mobil 1 @ Walmart for $21 (Definately the cheapest I could find!)
K&N Gold filter (HP-2010) @ Autozone for $12
1" socket @ Autzone for $7 (I could not beleive I didn't have a 1" socket!)

It reminded me today how easy it really is to drain your trans fluid!
Tightening up the filter is a pain too. IMO hand tightening really doesn't cut it.
After reading a few people on the forum who didn't tighten the filter enough and spewing oil everywhere,
a good 3/4 to full turn of the wratchet definately secures the filter.

Is it me, or does the car seem to idle quieter/less after synthetic? [&:]

Well, from what I've read on Bobistheoilguy.com (Or something like that..lol)

The K&N filter vs. Mobil 1 (for example) is 90% efficient to 99%

The K&N filters sacrifices filtration for a higher oil flow. Both are great filters, and do a good job filtering the oil, I just prefer
the K&N.

And about the idle, mine idles @ 900 rpm in park. Does that seem to low? Once I get an SCT I want to bump it up to at least 1000 rpm.
