I own a 1986 Ford Mustang and the previous owner ripped out the stock radio so i bought a aftermarket one and when i went to hook it up it didnt have power, i checked all the wires and the Red Wire doesnt have any power (i checked all the fuses) does anybody know what could cause this?

And also does anybody know what the red wire goes to? and if so how can i get to it so i can 1. fix it or 2. replace it

Thank You

red wire probably goes to the battery(99.9% sure). check that it is connected directly to the battery, if there are any fuses on the wire's way to the battery, check those as well. if that red wire is aftermarket, you should be able to follow it up to the battery pretty easily, if stock i really cant help

I think the yellow wire will have constant 12v.Its one of 3 things why your radio dont have power 1.fuse "there is 2-3 fuses for your radio" 2.radio is bad 3.One or more of the wires has a break/loose connection..ect in it.Check wires for power with a test lite or a DVM with the key on and off and to fix the red wire you can run it directly to the batt or fuse box.But i know you said you checked all of the fuses but i would suggest just replacing all of the fuses for the radio, just because they look good dont mean that they are good

well i checked the yellow and it has 12.67 Volts at ALL times, I checked the red wire with ignition on and off and both times it had 0, all of my other wires are fine, its just the red wire, and my radio isnt bad, its brand new it hasnt even been turned on yet lol
