I'm not sure where to get the info, But I know someone on here knows. How many S281's were built in 98? And on top of that, How many were the Convert's??
I appreciate u helping with the quiz guys. I'm just satisfying my curiosity

In 1998 Saleen sold 57 S281 coupes, 14 S281 cobras, 71 s281 verts, 21 S281Cobra verts, and 10 S281's that were made specificly for Budget rent a car for rentals.
Matter of fact, tell me the # of your car and Ill tell you how Saleen has it listed.

98-0172.... Last 3 of Ford VIN 112. Convertible, shipped 12/11/98 (VERY late in the year). 98-173 was the only higher S281 # used, but shipped 11/13/98.

172 had the optional hood, speedster, 10" rear wheels, black top. It is listed as "Grand Casino Car, Biloxi, MS". It's one of 5 casino giveaway cars built in 1998. Very interesting!

I have to say that almost every Saleen I have seen on the road is a vert.

Kind of the opposite for me, but I do see from the production numbers that for 99-04 coupes outnumber verts. For 94-98 its the opposite. For whatever the hell thats worth.

Thats cool info about the car being the second to last out for the 98's. I kinda figured it when I did the production numbers math.
Interesting about it being a grand casino car. When I did the car fax I was wondering if it had been auctioned off or what. Now I know.
