Default Help recommend a good setup to me with the mac flowpath catback!

Hey guys, I have a '94 5.0 I bought a week ago with a Mac flowpath catback that the guy put on it. I don't mind the sound it makes at all but i'm looking to upgrade the whole exhaust. I'm thinking of experimenting with an off-road x pipe on it to see how I like the sound first, then I was going to look into some headers. Can anyone recommend to me a good tried setup? The only clips I've heard of different combos of the flowpath are on mustangexhaust.com w/ the mac catted H pipe and off road H pipe I beleive. I've also read many reviews on the flowpath and never saw any good recommended combinations. Please help guys! Also, how much louder should I expect the x pipe to be in conjunction with the catback? I don't mind it being too loud, but will it be practical?

Thanks, Ted

DON't worry about the catless x pipe it wont be to loud, a x pipe will give u a raspy tone, it wont be deep and powerfull like h, if u want muscle sound get an H!!!!!!!!!! if u want a nice sounding exhaust ill telll u my setup. mac equal length shorties, bbk catless h pipe, 2 chamber american thuner flowmaters with dumos, trust me its not to loud!!!!! it sounds awesome!!!!! every one around here has this setup!!!!!! its has a nice little rumble while cruising but when u open it out it ROARS!!!!!!!!!! u will love it man!!!!!!!!!!

Yea from the sound clips i've heard I really love the american thunder setup matched with headers and a midpipe. I kind of want to keep the current catback for now though and put money into other areas of the exhaust. I might change out just the mufflers for flowmasters later on though. I might stick to an offroad H pipe instead of the X. Exactly how raspy does a o/r x pipe get on the 5.0? I haven't heard it on the flowpath system I have but the o/r x pipe on some setups I've heard sounded pretty good, not as deep as the H but not really raspy either.

ya its pretty raspy, there is no sense in gettin h pipe then keeping stockcat back, if u do that and just get mufflers then when u want to do cat back u will need bigger diameter mufflers! why not just get cat back now, u will have a 2.5 in h pipe then funnel it right back down into 2.25in. tell u what, when u get the h pipe just buyb a set of mac flow tubes, they are 50 bucks, then buy the mufflers for 40 bucks a peice, then dont run tailpipes, u can put dumps on which are next to nothing. it will be 130 for your catback!!!!!!!!! and it will sound great!!!!!! and it will be hidden!!!!!!! thats the way to go, its a waste of money if u keep stock exhaust

Nah bobby, your getting me all wrong. I have a Mac Flowpath catback already installed on my car already. I was just saying I don't want to take it off and switch it out for flowmasters because I really don't have a problem with how it sounds. I just wanted some opinions on the o/r H pipes vs. the o/r X pipes but I keep getting ones on switching out my catback, lol.

I went with Mac the whole way back and I am loving the deep tone!
Even though the headers were such a tight fit, I would definitely do those...really opens it up.
Do the headers and the X/H-pipe together...save yourself some fitting work.

lol i dont like to confuse anyone hahahahahahahhaha do u want to go with longtubes cause if you do then u will need a short h/x pipe, just get some equal length shorties that what i have, getting them in isnt that bad u just have to get agressive with them! once there in the hardest part is bolting up the h/x pipe to the headers, if u can get to this easy then uve got it made

h pipe = better low end power

x pipe = better top end power

either way both sound good. personaly i like the X pipe because that "raspy" sound is what makes ricers pucker thier a$$es when they try to pass me on the freeway and i downshift.. priceless
