Default Tint scratches

Hello all, has any '05 & up owners had problems with the front side windows getting vertical scratches after getting the windows tinted?
My front side windows look like a football field! Any suggestions/tips? Thanks

You aren't supposed to roll your windows up or down in the first week or so after the tinting.

I didn't roll them down/up for 4 days(per installer instructions). They told me(after revealing the scratches) that the '05s have a hard plastic strip to keep the window from rattling, this is what's causing the scratches, according to them. Any thoughts from '05 & up owners with tinted windows? Any solutions?

You can roll the windows down after 12+ hours if the temps don't get too cold.

Those ridiculous wait times the shops give you is just to cover their hide incase you leave the lot and roll down the window & snag an egde. If they tint the windows properly and don't leave globs of solution under the tint, it won't slide & if they heat shrink the edges like they should, they won't snag.

Anyways, check out our 2005+ Mustang section, there is a whole bunch of threads about the window scratching. Hopefully you can find the help you need in there.

Yep, very common. Call Ford and they act like they never heaqrd of it. I had my felt replaced by a shop that was familiar with the Mustang problem. Had the windows redone and didn't lower the windoes for 5 days. The passesnger side already has scratches again in the exact same spots.

This is not a felt issue... The scratches are in the exact same spot for everyone, towards the front of the windows by the inside door handle. Has to be a design flaw with the windows and/or handles.

Check out the 2005/2006/2007 Forum. There is a sticky note on this issue. Call FOMOCO and complain! Make sure you have your VIN.

Some people have replace the factory felt with a moleskin kit, and that supposedly works.

I had my felt replaced, retinted, and had a scratch on the passenger's windows after lowering the window MAYBE 5 times.

I'm done dealing with it... I'll just keep my fingers crossed that I don't get too many more scratches.
