Just curious what most people prefer between Roush & Saleen Supercharged Mustangs? Which has better reputation, which is a better supercharger, which car will hold it's value better? Thanks for any and all opinions.....

im 16; 17 whatever these people want to label me as and am getting the Stage 3; believe it or not. The R3 (roush stage 3) is worth about 50k and change and the S281 (SALEEN S281) is worth about 68k and change. Now we are talking about the BEST mustang these two companies can produce. The r3 has about 415 and the S281 has about 550 so theres a big difference in hp with another 18k. To me i believe that if you like the car you should own the car (if its in your own price category). Not because who makes it; roush next shelby?? who knows but i bring that up alot as well. I think R3 because i am in the process of buying of buying/owning one. They say resale on the roush sucks but im not looking for a collectors piece if i was id be going to an auction.

The Saleen comes in three different levels. The top being 550 hp. I wouldn't be buying that one. I'm more interested in the mid level one, I think it's 415 hp. Good luck on your new car...

I think Saleen's resale value is a little better but they tend to be more pricey as well. The s/c on the Saleen is better.

Roush=roots blower
Saleen=twin screw blower

From my understanding the Roush run a standard Roots blower while the Saleen run a much more efficient and much cooler running twin screw.

Everything is subjective, but the majority (I think) on the boards would say Saleen > Roush. Not that Roush is bad, but Saleen is just one of the most top tier aftermarket companies out there.

The Roush is just a Eaton supercharger, highly moded, extreamly durible. Its also the best one to install, super easy!! The Saleen will hold its value better, not by much though. During the Dream cruise tonight i stoped by Royal Oak Ford and for $40k you can get a Stage 3 making 450hp(this is a new car) so if you look hard enough you can get them cheap. There are a ton of saleen fans on here so they hold the boards. There were at least 100 saleens, 20 GT500's and 10 Roush vehicles driving around tonight. Anyone know what a stock saleen s/c runs? But why get a car for that price, when you can buy a non supercharged version, drop in a 425hp crate engine and blow both of them away...

Saleen is much better, but on a personal note scrap both of them. If you want to sit the car in a garage get a saleen, saleen is known as an actual car producer, roush is an after-market modder. You can get a new gt for 26k, but everything a saleen s281, or a stage 3 has for like 12k or so(not to mention you choosing the components, so you end up with a much better total build and you can scrap the parts you dont like on either version). and still run faster than both with only 38k invested. But if you really are looking for speed and performance get the gt500, the 5.4L is way more capable than the 4.6 will ever be. Att. Andrew

Well.......as of now, the Saleen is the more recognizable name to the general public(being around 22 years helps). Bodykit-wise, it's a matter of choice, to me, the Saleen looks more 'upscale' while the Roush screams 'boyracer', whatever floats your boat I guess on looks. The '07 Saleen S281S/C is rated at 445hp, the S281E is rated at 550hp(for another 20K or so). Stage 3's are 415hp, but you can get upgrades, depends on how deep your pockets are(not sure if '07s are rated higher though). Not sure what company makes this particular bodykit for '05 & up, but on this TV show "Wrecks to Riches" the owner of the shop on that show modified an '05GT for
a Ford backed show in 'Vegas and that car looked WICKED. Better than Saleen/Steeda/Roush/Foose/ShelbySignatureSeriesCS6 in my opinion, btw Cervini's make a wicked looking Eleanor kit for '05 & up 'Stangs, they'll do a complete transformation for about $23K
or so(that includes a supercharger too). Depends on what you want. A local dealer had a Saleen S281(same brakes as a stock GT and only the normal exhaust/CAI/computer reprogram/suspension/wheels-tires that Saleen does-think '07s make 330hp) for 45K(was a black coupe). Can replicate that for much, much less, even more on a used S197. Although it doesn't get the fancy serial # on the bumper and of course a true pedigree. Good luck on your choice.

The roots blower and Twin screw blowers psi for psi (from what I've been told) the twin screw will put out more rwhp (this is from my understanding. If i'm wrong please correct me) I think I also heard the twin screw doesn't have the heating issues the the normal roots blower has.

Centrifugal s/c's and positive displacement s/c's (twin screw and roots) offer power for different applications. Positive displacement blowers make more low to mid range torque.......while centri blowers make better high end torque.

Yes but roots style and twin screw superchargers are somewhat inefficient.

I honestly prefer the centri myself. I just love that whistle. Then again you can help but enjoy that wonderful scream from a screw style blower.

I personally prefer the Saleen, but I'd rather get a GT and mod it my way, but put the Saleen body kit on(looks great).
