I walked in about 4 minutes after the auction started and the first words I heard were "come on, you're going to lose the car over $200 are you? Can I hear $79,200, anyone??".

Most of the people I saw were just in awe that someone would be that STUPID to pay that much more than the list price for this car. Well, he must not have been alone 'cause someone else must have been in the bidding war with'em. The guy looked in his late 60's so money must not have been more important than the thrill of victory, huh.

I did see a unique car in the parking lot....a Cervini Mustang? Never heard of it but looked like one of the Eleanor-clone-type vehicles. Mostly bolt-on stuff with double-exhaust tips just past the doors on each side. The guy was spouting off about 800hp. Hummm, just jumped in my Saleen and headed home. I thought Richmonder's had more sense than what was displayed in the showroom auction.

I would have bid 79.2 just for the sake of a good "my pecker is bigger than your pecker" good time [8D] And the Cervini's do NOT have 800hp [sm=icon_rofl.gif] I don't know much about them, but I think they have 3 or 4 stages to them like Roush does, and I think 500 or so is the top stage. Its a cool looking car though

Its just another eleanor clone. Thanks for keeping us updated. $79,200 is waaaaaayyyyyyyyy too much for that car. Could have gotton an extreme for $10,000 less.

+1. Viper/Saleen, if that Cervinis car was red, it's been to some of the local shows. A kid spouts off a bunch of crap about the car but it's his Dad's and the top number with an agressive tune is around 525 at the flywheel. If you speak to the guy that actually owns the car, he's a pretty nice, down-to-earth guy like us. Maybe not the same car, though.

Yea, someone in this area has more $ than brains...

Of course forged internals. I don't think the block could take 800hp. The stock 5 speed sure couldn't.

$79K is just crazy. That reminds me of the crazy prices that Xbox 360's were selling for on eBay when they first came out. Not on the same scale I know but still. I guess some people just have to be the first to own something... no matter what the cost.
