Wow, I can't believe there is actually some controversy over one's preference of stripes. BTW - I think it looks great. My '06 pony car came with the gold side stripe which was a big deal to me, although hard to match if I want others. My 65 had them, as did my 98 - I guess I am hooked on the retro look of stripes. I'm glad to see someone combine the side with the top stripes - I had considered that.
I don't think I've seen anything but some great looking Mustangs while I've been on this kick of forums, so I thank everyone for letting us have a chance to see some great cars.
I am amazed at the fussing that goes on between different styles and choices. If you find the car of your dreams and it makes you smile keep it and show it off. Don't fret what others think, just make it yours. I waited a long time for my Mustang, and drove 500 miles to find the one I really wanted. Many dealers tried to talk me into something else, but I held out. I know that someone came along and fell in love with the car I passed over - isn't the the mystic of the Mustang?
Keep the pic's and stories coming; I'm having a blast reading and learning from all of you.

I have the exact same car (howver stock) as you and i love the strip. the delaer refrers to it as Pearl.. i was scared at first only seeing it on paper before it came in, however it was love at first sight when i pulled in to the dealer the next day.

Not to offend anyone, but Ihave never been a fan of the side stripe on any Mustang since day one.
I figure if people don't know it's a Mustang they need to get back under their rock.

I had my stripes removed before I took delivery at the dealer. I did not care for them on my car. But I certainly have no problem with people who like them on their cars. Not my taste, but I respect the choices and opinions of others.

Not to hijack.. but it's been 3 months now since I bought mine... and I still get a big silly grin every time I eyeball my car while walking up to it... I say to myself... "what a badass good looking car!"... lol. Usually, I get pretty "routine" with a car after only a couple of weeks of owning it. Not sure when this Mustang high will end! Maybe no time soon!

Exactly!!! It's closing on a year since I bought my Mustang and I still have that same reaction.

As to the stripes, they do look good, and we actually bought a set for my spouse's redfire coupe, but we decided the car looks so clean with out them that we never installed them.

I removed the stripes from mine when I switched out the rocker panels with GT takeoffs.

I think it looks better with the stripe, without it, its just a plain stang, I think the stripe gives it some character, LOL! Are you going to put anything else on the side later on?

Doubt it, but if I do it won't be the same thing. I never cared for the "Mustang". I mean everyone knows what the car is so it seemed kind of tacked on to me. I like the cleaner look of the lines.

I was going to take the stripe off my mine but I changed my mind. Even with the bodykit it on it I think the stripe does a good job breaking up the color of the car. The biggest thing right now I am debating is what wheels to put ont car. More than likely they will be black fr500s which will complement the srtipe on the car.

i took the stripe off mine, it was gold or tan, i am colorblind, could hav ebeen taupe... i dont know. I think it made the car look like a girls car... i think it was the mustang spelled out. However, i do like the matching stripes on the rocker. Personally I like plain cars, my dodge pickup had everything taken off of it for a clean look, i was tempted to take off the badges on my car, until i found out that they aren't on every V6, just the pony packages, so it'll stay.

I wanted to take my stripes off when I got it home from the dealer but the wife said no and now I'm glad that I didn't. I love the way it looks and can't wait to see what it will look like with the Roush nose and hoodscoop.[image][/image]

It is so funny, I do the same thing. Every morning when I open the door and see my car outside, I get a smile and think, "What a Bad ass car."

Me too. I love my car! When I walk away from it, going into work, I turn back for one last glance. When I leave work, I just stare lovingly at it as I get closer. When I'm driving it... wow. At home, it's a joy to see in my garage as I approach it and I'm saddened a tad when I leave it to go into the house.

I'm glad it's not just me.

Nice! Where did you get the Mach 1 side stripes? I wanted them on mine for a long time, although eventually I decided that I'd feel a bit silly wearing Mach 1 badging with only ~200 hp... looks sick, though!

I also love what you did with your grill! Is that a Street Scene? Did it come with the tri-bar pony emblem? Mine is a Street Scene; I took a Pony Package fender emblem and attached it in the center.

[note: tried to upload a pic but my computer is being uncooperative...]

I LOVE THE ROCKER STRIPE!! There are very few in Delaware with the white stripe and I, personally, think the windveil blue stang looks boring without it. But to each his/her own. I think it really depends on the color.
