rear sway bar just installed

It took me less than an hour. Remember to have your 15mm deep socket wrench ready. I ordered the GT takeoff sway bars from ebay and the bolts from my local ford dealer. I was concerned that it would not fit as I have a convertible and I am not sure what type of GT the bar came from. It was very simple popping the bar in place and inserting and tightening all the bolts. The bar sat right up against and was touching the frame support bars that Ford puts on the convertible, so I was afraid to drive it, thinking the bar would slam up against it and bend. Apparently this is how the bar is supposed to be, because everything turned out great. It made a world of difference in handling. Steering was much tighter, I am able to take turns much faster and with more confidence. The car just feels more stable overall. It used to feel loose on the freeway when pushed over 90 mph. I hit almost 110 today on the way home on the freeway (dont try this at home! btw, arent our cars electronically limited??) and the car felt great, really hugged the road, best upgrade!! I wonder if I should install the GT front one too, but I don't think it will make anywhere near as much of a difference going to a bigger sway bar as it did installing one where there previously was none.

I only have the front GT sway bar too. It's about the size of a 10 year old's arm! In comparison to the stock V6 bar which looks like a toothpick and weighs as much as one.

In any case, I'm not sure which made more of a difference, my Nitto NT555s or the sway bars, but when I can take corners I used to take at 30-40MPH without my tires wailing.

What did you need to mount the sway bar? Just 4 bolts? You have the part#s by any chance? :D

your gonna need 4 nuts part #W520213-S440 and 4 bolts part #711368-S439. you also need 2 bolts part #W708737-S439, and 2 nuts part #W711029-S900. I hear you can get similar parts from home depot or somewhere for cheap, but they wont have the clips on them which make tightening them so much easier. All the nuts and bolts together will run you a little under $50 from the ford dealer.

Here are a couple pics of the bar installed:

Im still waiting by the window for my Hellwig rear bar but I did install the front GT swaybar and to me and my wife( which by the way was very impressed) did feel a big difference in ride and handling. Got butt sores waiting but it should be worth it if it turns out like the front.

Stangrunner, the rear will put like 2 X the smile on your face as the front upgrade.

Cool ... just got my front and rear GT bars today. I found another post listing the exact size bolts required so I am going to go the $10 Ace Hardware route for the nuts and bolts.

Four (4) - 8 x 16 bolts, nuts and washers for the lower shock mount ends
Two (2) - 12 x 65 threaded end bolts, nuts and washers for the links

You can get the bars on eBay ... do a search ... anywhere from $90 to $120 depending on where you get them ... plus oversize shipping. They look pretty easy to install ... probably do mine this weekend ...
