I just completed an engine swap on my 68 coupe. The cylinders in the old block measure 4.040". Can this block be bored anymore? If so I'd like to sell it with the old heads. Surprisingly, the old motor ran pretty decently even though it was only running on seven cylinders. The only thing I found wrong was one warped valve hence no compression in that cylinder. The old motor had quite a few miles. So I opted for a short block so I could get my car running again as fast as I could. Any ideas what this block is worth, or is it just scrap iron? Thanks !!

I don't know. My dad built that motor about10 or 12 years ago.

The max you could go is 060 over, but that only be useful for a stocker...performance applications will overheat. Pretty much, you have a new stand for a coffee table...

If it is still within limits of an .040 bore after rehoning it you could re-ring it and get quite a few more miles out of it.
I would not scrap it yet.

I would not ask any $ for the bare block. Just give it to some one that is willing to give it a good home.
