Hey everyone
I'm having a problem and I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice. I have a 94 GT 5.0 and I'm having trouble with, what I think, is the transmission. I don't mean to sound ignorant about this stuff, but I kind of am. Here's the situtation: When I'm driving, after about 15 minutes, the transmission starts acting up, even more now because its starting to get warmer outside. Let's say I'm driving about 40mph. The car is usually running at about 1500rpm. But then it will seem to shift gears (I have an automatic trans.) and go up to about 2000rpm. A friend said that there is probably something wrong with the overdrive switch or button in the transmission. If I press the button while driving, it does simulate what has been happening. So I'm wondering, does this sound like a problem with the overdrive or something else? Any advice would be cool... Thanks
well kinda hard but they r supposed to shift into o/d around that speed..(to me that seems way to early for it to shift into o/d but hey mine does too..) my dads same as mine a 95 gt auto started actng up and then it wouldn't shift outta 2nd... turns out 3rd and 4th GONE... it would rev up while driving normal and then like slam into gear.... make sure yours isn't doing this...

You know, that sounds like my problem too. So, you'd just be driving normal, and then the rpms shoot up and then eventually go back down when it gets back in gear? I have a feeling thats not a good thing :). Thanks for your help.
yup... that's what his did... that is right before it went... sorry to scare u lol... he went to work just fine... went to leave and it jsut kept reving in 2nd and wouldn't shift... we ended up towing it home and the garage is were it remains... he gets' to drive my sho till his is fixed.. yea i would def. get your car checked out... soon ...

I just replied to another person with an AODE problem. I just overhauled the AODE in my wifes '94 GT. Exact same symptoms. The intermediate one way clutch came apart. If you have someone else fix it, make sure they don't use used parts. There is a new design that is MUCH better. The reverse clutch drum is part of that clutch and will be replaced also. Driving it like that can damage the direct clutch that does overdrive so park it untill you get it fixed.

I was just thinking about posting another question about this. I will talk to the mechanic about this; he has no clue what is causing the problem, so your advice should help. I appreciate it...
