Default Another rear panel request

In my last request I received many responses from people who had installed honeycombed and other plastic panels between the tail lights. What I would like to see now are those of you who have painted the area between the tail lights. If you painted this area please tell me what kind of paint you used and the finish. By that I mean flat, satin, gloss, etc. Also, did you remove the fake gas cap or just mask it and paint around it? If I paint it and it looks bad I can just break down add a plastic panel over the paint.

hey man, i'm getting ready to shave my trunk keyhole as i already did my third brake light. plus you'll notice i have a flip flop kit on it. anyways, what i wanted to tell you and everyone else is that you don't have to mask around the fake gas cap. i thought it was tacky to my taste and i removed it. buts its just as easy to put it on cause its only held on by double sided tape. the stape is very strong but if you take a flat head to it it pops right off. its better to remove it and paint it then so when you put it back on it has that professional finish, not the taped off look.

also, if you need instructions on what to use or how to do it just let me know and i'll post detailed instructions. i already primed my trunk lid as you can see so all i ahve to do is take it in to be painted.

sorry man, had to edit cause i forgot to post the pic.

Thanks man, I thought the fake gas cap was bolted on or something like that. Do you just replace the double sided tape and stick it back on after painting?

you shouldn't have to reapply the tape. you should be able to use the same tape over again as log as you don't go throwing the fake gas cap all in the dirt and stuff. and be careful not to just rip it off, take it off too fast and you will twist and warp the tape. and then you'll have to reapply the tape. just be patient, slow and steady will do the trick. but other than that, go for it man.
