a few months ago i chopped the top off of my 05 stang cause i was having problems getting in and out of it. i'm only 6'1 but i have that really long leg crap thing goin on. once i'm inside or outside i'm good but its just that process of doing it. now i live in yuma, az. where its really dusty. i cleaned it really good one last time and put a car cover on it cause i'll get like a quarter inch of dust in a day now in the interior. now i don't even drive it. does someone out there know of a way to fix this missing top problem or any suggestions? i appreciate anything i can get. i'm a pretty bright guy it's just that this thing has me stumped. please help. in the meantime i have been forced to drive my 85 cutlass. uuhhh.

No, I don't seem to know how to fix your problem other then get the top replaced. Try to go to a custom shop and see if they can fabricate you some T-tops or something. Other then that, you should have thought about your leg length and gotten a vert instead of a hard top.

when i bought mine i was in germany and they werent shipping verts there or let alone making them at the time. i would've traded it in but my dumbass payed cash for it and i would lose too much money. plus on top of that i'm 21, my insurance would kill me.

Why the hell would anyone chop of the top of a brand new car?
I'm flabergasted! Hey you know what you could have removed your seat and put in a milk crate instead of chopping off your roof.

um....so explain to me what you did because i dont think i am getting it...

you decided that there wasnt enough room, so you cut a hole in your roof? furthermore, you bought an american car in germany in cash, then had it shipped back to america? then you realized that it was all a bad idea and decided to fix the hole in your roof?

...i am sorry man...i dont know what to tell you....go to a good body shop or bring it to ford and ask for another roof

ps. can i see a picture of your car? i really wanna see what this looks like

maybe if i knew i was gonna be dealin wit a bunch of assholes i would'nt have posted this. i thought this site was helpin each other out and sh*t like that but i guess i was wrong. i mean i did my part by helping out some other people with their a/c problems being i am an hvac technician and ase technician. anyways, if this was some half ass operation i did and knew nothing about what i was doing it would look like sh*t. but just to let you guys know my car is a head turner. i can't go anywhwere without getting complements. it's just a big hassle to keep it clean, thats all. when i tell people i chopped the top they imagine the worst possible thing. i have worked in body shops before and i am an experienced mechanic. and an american car bought in germany isn't an american car when it has german tuning. my car does not run like an american mustang. i did not buy it off of another person. plus my car has no governor and i didn't have to get a chip to remove it. when people rev their car with f#cking aftermarket fart mufflers, i drown theirs out with pure power. didn't you guys ever wonder why german cars are faster than american cars?

anyways....
chrisc, i explained above why i bought the car but in not so nice words to the dumbasses. i tested an american stang and then a german one; big difference. and i didn't cut a hole in my roof, i cut the whole roof off. and i don't think it's a bad idea, it is very comfortable to drive now. probably one of the most comfortable cars i have ever had. framerail strength is still in tact in case of a roll over, and the feeling it gives me when people give it comliments is the best. i'm not looking to fill in the gap, i just want peoples opinions as to what i should do;ie; electro magnet top, solid piece glass top;etc. i want one that is removable. i have the means and knowledge to fabricate this stuff, i was just looking for some opinions. and i will post pics when i go exchange my camera cause it's broken. kids do stuff like that.

You should have taken the $$ hit on the vert, cutting your top off has dropped the value of the car considerably unless you don't plan on telling the person you sell it to, you cut the top off.
The roof is a stressed member for the frame and body. How did you reinforce the body and frame? Hopefully you at least have ft and rear strut braces installed to keep the car from twisting without the roof. If you didn't reinforce, I'd hate to see what would happen to the car and driver in an impact accident... we won't even talk about rollover. You didn't need a "chip" because the car is pre-tuned from the factory for autobahn driving.

The part that has me worried the most is they let you carry a gun.

OK, so a n00b posts that he cut the top on his new Mustang. Fine, it's his car to do whatever he wants. But I'll believe it when I see it in unretouched pics.

bennihill, nobody called you an a-hole for chopping the top off, so don't go verbally attacking the members here who responded. The forum rules are linked in the upper right corner of every page on this website. Personal attacks will not be tolerated. If this thread gets ridiculous, it will disappear.

Um....WOW! I don't believe a man with as much car knowledge would chop off his top! There are full glass roofs out there:
http://www.stangnet.com/Press-Releases/CDC-Glassback.html or other options but I really don't know if this will solve your problems.
GOOD LUCK and remember DUCK!

you seem to feel that your car has a lot more power than ours, what are the differences? what kind of power are you running? also, there is no chip in this car, it is all a tune on the computer. i find it hard to believe that there is actually different hardware in your car, probably just a different tune. enlighten me please, i have always been interested in american cars being changed in other countries (AWD focus )
