German cars are faster than American cars? When did that happen?

here are pics of the car. people can't seem to wait for a decent photo so i took these pics with my phone. here you go moderator, believe this. and i am not going to sit and explain why a german car is faster, it just is. the reason cars are built to go fast speeds over there is cause the recommended speed limit is 180k which is 108 mph. and for reinforcement i welded solid 1inch by 1 inch steel rails on the framerail.

okay, i can barely believe my eyes with those pictures, i was definitly considering the fact that you were a troll or something. now to give some real help check out this company called Smoothe Line. I read about them in some mustang mag, they make removable hard tops and are comming out with one for the 05/6/7 mustang "soon" (not sure when).

please explain, just some general stuff. have you ever raced a "regular" one? how about a "regular" gt? if you go to a track, do you have any time slips? have you ever got a dyno? do you know the weight of your car? this forums is to teach and be taught. i took the time to dig through a pile of magazines and look for that ad

I cant explain but here i used to have a 5 series bmw. I drove the exact same model when i was visiting germany and it did seem better.Smoother/Quicker response transmission and slightly better acceleration. The only thing i can come up with is Germans always have such precision when they build things. Thats why some products and even chrysler trys to push German engineered products.

i can believe that because i would bet that the car would be built (hardware and tune) to be used on their highways that have very high speed limits. however, when i see that there is no mustang on www.ford.de , I find it hard to believe that ford builds a "german" mustang. i personally think that it is nothing more than a tuned (as in computer tune) american mustang. i may be wrong, i dont know, just my feeling on the topic

Ok. So a pogue buys a Mustang in Germany (for cash) and first of all is convinced that there's a difference between his and every other Mustang sold on the planet becasue it's GERMAN. Then, he thinks it's too hard to get in or out of his car so he CUTS THE FREAKING ROOF OFF. Then he ships it back stateside, to the desert, and now seeks advice as to how best to keep dust of of the interior of a vehicle that no longer had a roof. And he never gave the fact that he'd need a roof at some point a second thought.

Did I miss something there?

Here's how to fix the dust problem, get rid of your car and stop trolling this forum. Then get a vasectomy because anyone this dumb shouldn't be adding to the gene pool.

Mods please delete this entire thread.

Dude, that's a very bold move. I love the look of the Targa top but I want to wait until there is a very good kit to do it. As far as repairing yours, I'd suggest a good body shop. Nothing you've done is permanent. They can get the skin for the top, and weld new side pieces together and the headliner would be simple. And of course repainting. I would say your looking at at least $3000 - $6000 to get it back to stock not considering the trunk at all.

May be cheaper to have someone steal it, t-bone it into a tree and set it on fire.

CDC Glassback, all the way...or people have mentioned the possibility of T-Tops, which would be interesting.

I'm 6'7", and I fit fine. I will say that sometimes it can be a pain in the butt to get in if someone parked too close to the driver's side, though.

i know i'm new here so someone please inform as to what a "troll" is. and i am not a pogue. nickelson you need to do your research before you go making accusations. my MOS may have been a 52c but i was stationed in germany where they have no a/c's, so guess what?; i'm thrown in the motorpool and made a mechanic and a bullet sponge being that i was lower enlisted. and my mustang is not the only one on the planet like it mechanically. other germans own the same thing but not very many.

chrisc, the reason you do not find it on ford.de is because they order an american version and then do their converting and tuning. the only reason i was able to purchase mine is because i went to new exchange sales (which is for the military) and told them to go get one from a german dealership. the difference is since i'm american i don't have to pay the customs taxes and fees. the taxes and fees total up to somewhere around 6,200 euro. i did have to pay the conversion fee which was 2,600 u.s. dollars. that made it legal to register and drive in germany and the states. i had a german offer me 40,000 euro for the car but i could not sell it for the fact that under customs you have to own the car for six months to sell it and then you have to get permission from customs. soldiers use to do that all the time because they could make big money. otherwise it cost a german a fortune to get one. but i have seen a few with them.

05black pony, that is a flip flop trunk. all it is is modified hinges. the hinges cost me five dollars at wal-mart. autoloc sells the hinges for 100 bucks if you want to have the name brand and all that crap. when people see the trunk lid like that they don't care about the name brand so i really don't care. and on top of that i shaved the third brake light and i'm getting ready to shave the keyhole below. i'm still working on it so i just keep it primered.

thanks for your explanation on how you get the german version of the car, but i am still very interested in what the differences are

they just have little differences like tougher pistons and rods, bigger fuel and air injectors, governor free chip, the exhaust from manifold back is about .6 of an inch bigger, a stronger pressure plate, and a differently geared transmission. like the transmission from startoff is a little bit faster than a stock gt but once it hits about 90 it slows down a tad bit and the gears stretch out so it can top out. i don't know what the top speed is in mine but i have pushed it 155mph. i was doing about 4600 rpms in 5th gear at that speed. i don't know all the differences but i do know its faster than most stangs. and i don't claim to have the fastest, cause i have seen some monsters out there.

This has to be one of the funniest threads here. I'm also having a hard time beleiving they used 3.1" tubing for the exhaust, and what german engineers are doing this?
