I raced one the other day and I pulled pretty decently. All i have for mods is intake/tune, 4.10s and an axle back. We went twice and i pulled on him both times. once from like 60 and the other at 40. I was very surprised in the outcome considering they have 425 crank hp out of the box. He did have one more passenger then me that i could see and it was hot so he may have had the ac on but still he should have turned that off. What are those things running at the track? For $46k or w/e they go for that is not a car id be buying after that poor performance. Thats alot of money you could be putting into a GT.

Theye are suposed to be running prety close 1/4 times as us stock, but I haven't seen that in the real world. Even if they came 600 rwhp out of the factory, I have to much self respect to ever be caught dead in that fart can riced up neon.

But the SRT8's sre suposedly running better times. Don't think there are too many at the track though.

The few that I have seen at the track were turning low to mid 14's.

The 425 horse ones were only turning 14's? Hell 6.0 powerstrokes with 450 Flywheel horsepower turns those numbers weighing 7500+pounds, lol

hahaha well i just checked out the car and driver and they tested it out at 13.1 in stock trim. I guess if you want a boat with some power you buy one of these. I guess my next goal is to beat a new c6. I think i might need 75 shot of the funny stuff to do that tho.

My dad owns an SRT8 and they pull pretty hard on top end. I think that for the weight they have they are pretty quick. Our race will be as soon as the Borla catback and the CAI arrives to the SRT8. What do you guys think will be the results.

they are so damn heavy...but i have personally seen a stock chrysler 300 srt-8 run a 13.1 (don't remember the mph) at atco raceway. on that note the same guy ran mostly 13.4-5's that day. either way pretty impressive for a stock big family sedan....

I'm suprised you didn't call BS on this one. . .

a few bolton's on a GT and he walks an SRT8 from a ROLL . . .

i figured you would call BS all over this one . . . SRT8 should "MURDER" us
so a couple of boltons on a GT should still loose right???

ut oh, i opened it up again

The problem isn't the power, it's the gearing. The SRT8's have taller (read lower number) gears than our cars have stock. With the extra weight these have over us, they need more mechanical advantage to the that barge moving. Lower gears means greater mechanical advantage, which is why so many of us have switched to 3.73 or 4.10 gears in our cars. I have no doubt that with lower gears and probably a torque converter, they could be high to mid 12sec cars right out of the box. The fact is that even with DOD, chrysler needed to put the taller gear in to avoid higher penalties for gas milage.

Ford went through the same thing with the GT500, that's why they come with a 3.23 gear - for gas milage listings to the government.

You should beat him pretty badly with your mods. Idk what a cai and exhaust do for those but i bet its not enough.

Thank You ROBGT I will race him next week since by that time he will have installed the exhaust and CAI. I,ve read that an exhaust on that cars give them 15 to 20 RWHP and CAI like 5. But do you think that with the size on my rims I could easily take him.
