Default tire fitting on a 20x1" rim

i need some help. i have a 10" wide rear rim and wanted to know how wide a tire i can fit on it. currently i have 275/40/20 on them and they're about to be out of tread. will i have to get different offsets to keep the wheel and tire inside the fender if i go wider? any help would be great, thanks

Default RE: tire fitting on a 20x1" rim

From Tirerack:
"The industry rule of thumb is that for every 1/2" change in rim width, the tire's section width will correspondingly change by approximately 2/10"."
