Default Here we go again... X-Cal2 vs Predator.

Okay, what's the difference between these two tuners again? Why is everyone latley seeming to prefer the X-Cal2? If I get a Predator tuner, will I be disappointed?

from what i have herd the x cal is better for auto and the preditor is better for manual but i have never seen the preditor or know what it does differently than the x cal
if you have an auto go with the x cal thats what i have and trust me you wont be dissappointed

In essence they both do similar things. I believe that many of the custom shops (Evolution, Bamachips, etc.) use SCT technology whereas alot of the Diablo's come with more of a stock performance tune. I can tell you that the Superchips tuner is not worth the money so stay away from it.

On my car, at the track, on the same day with the same mods, The superchips microtuner was 2 tenths faster than the SCT2 with a tune for the mods. (three runs each) When I get to the track again I will compare the two tuners with the new mods.

Ok, so if i get a predator my options on a tune are more limited then? Does it just come with a stock performance tune, or can you download new tunes. I have heard the predator is better to use with a laptop or a computer, while you can get custom tunes from a shop with an x/cal. I guess I just dont know enough about them to really decide, but I think i could pick up a used predator for about 130 less than a new x-cal... and I have a 5 speed manual.

Both will accept tunes from the internet (email).

The units are very comparable the difference is wheather or not your favorite shop uses Diablo or SCT.

The art is in the human writing the tune....not the tuner unit. For examplre the reason that I am selling my predator is because I really want Evolution to tune my car, I plan to go FI with them as well.

the units are simply meant to write tunes to your computer, the rest (at least for stick cars) is the same, same functionality same parameters to tweak.

The unit comes with three performance tunes, 87, 91, and 93 octane, It also "saves" your stock tune for reverting back to stock (dealer trip etc)
