For those who race (on the track!), post your times along with your modifications. Post your time slips here too. This is also the place to post peak dyno numbers and sheets (please include your mods).

Friendly debating and questioning is allowed, but keep this thread ON-TOPIC!!!

i think you would be mad proud of what the 100 shot will give you in the quarter

HA yea, not so much... i will likely hit mid 13s on the 100 shot... i do not have slicks... and i do not have tlok... i will never buy a tlok and slicks wont be here for a long time... so i am settling for mid 13s...

though if i did have both... im sure high 12s would be possible (sponsors???!!!) ;)

[:@]This is frustrating. I see times that are posted on your site for nominally modified mustangs hitting 15.2 and 14.93's and I don't understand. I have a 2006 V6 Mustang Pony Addition with a cold air kit installed, 93 Octane Tune at Lamatta in Orlando, a true 2.5" dual exhaust with turbo mufflers, a spacer, and can't get out of the 15.7's even with a friend that has drag raced for years at Orlando Speedworld. The Dyno at Lamatta showed 187.56 Rear Wheel Horsepower with the above stated changes. I have also read, through Ford Corp. websites that the stock V6 mustang has 157 + or - rear wheel HP with no modifications, and have also seen it writted in Modified Mustang Magazine. I myself drag raced back in my high school days and won a few years of points and trophies back in the 70's and 80's and my first time out with the new mustang, I had a reaction time of .234 secs. and ran 15.7's all night long, consistantly, with a top speed of 88.75 mph and the best my friend got, who still races an 11 sec. car, was a 15.68 at 88.89 mph. Are the posted times from others real or is it balony. I have seen other V6's at this track and they are worse than me because they are stock, running 15.9's and 16.0's. Is my car that much of a dog. I am also having a hard time finding someone to tell me if nitrous will work on the Stock V6 bottom end or will I have problems in the near future. You read about everybody doing well with it but no references to reliability. I know its a selling point for manufacturers to show all the good, but has anyone run into the bad:(

Greg Wilson[&o]

boss 244
09-18-2006, 03:06 PM
Greg, I had the same problem untill I changed my fuel filter (18$), plugs and switched to mobil 1. I instantly dropped 3 tenths, then 2 more(after some lightening and mod.). All the mods in the word didn't get my car going untill the base was working properly. Try those things and drop your tire pressure to 30 rear and max inflation on the fronts. I'll bet you a six pack of your favorite you go faster.

nascar17
09-18-2006, 05:21 PM
;)Thanks for your input. Is the reason for the filter change because the ford version is no good and after market has better flow or might it be plugged ? Same question for the plugs, are after markets better. I did change the wires to the blue 9mm from V6 performance. Also, when Lamatta was re-tuning my car, they said my air/fuel ratio was bad @ 11.2 lean and they adjusted it to 13.5 rich. Is this to rich and may be one of the reasons I am so slow.. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated:eek:.

Nascar17[sm=gears.gif]

rygenstormlocke
09-18-2006, 05:24 PM
Actually its the other way around. 11.2 is fater, the higher the number the leaner your tune. Lean gives you more power, and can lead to detonation and popped pistons. I'm not sure what is acceptable NA for AFR, but as long as you are not pinging, you should be ok.

nascar17
09-18-2006, 05:30 PM
:eek:It seems, since this change my car got slower. I was running more in the 15.3's before the computor change. I had the cold air kit and true dual exhaust done along with the wires before the re-tune. maybe I need to go somewhere else, except that Lamatta has been in major magazines for mustang performance. I did re-check my dyno-page and it does show going from 11.2 to 13.5.

Thanks[sm=dontgetit.gif]

boss 244
09-18-2006, 05:52 PM
The reason for the fuel filter is that it could be partially plugged, restricting fuel flow at higher RPM's (that's what happened to me) I bought the new filter at the ford dealer. I don't know about the plugs being better, but mine were wasted after 30 thousand miles, probally because of bad gas. It's worth the 30 bucks or so to do it, then you know it's right. I also had 3 different tunes from different tuners. The six pack offer still stands. My times are from lots of work, no baloney, but I didn't get there untill I changes the filter and plugs along with mobil 1 and a PHP alt pulley.

nascar17
09-18-2006, 08:25 PM
[sm=interesting.gif] Thanks for the imput. I'll give it a try on the fuel filter and plugs. On the dyno sheet, they must have gone from 13.5 to 11.2 on the AFR. It does read backwards after I really looked at it. :eek:Is this to rich. I have read that 12.7 or so is ultimate. I also have a set of 4:10 gears with traction lock to be installed. The car doesn't get driven long distances and I figured, since I'm only taching 2,400 RPMs at 80, It couldn't hurt much.

R/T 0.125
60' 2.184
1/8 9.682 @ 72.60mph
1/4 15.062 @ 91.32mph

On my 4.0/auto, I am presently running a C&L CAI intake, an Evolution Performance 93 Extreme tune, and a GT take-off muffler. Although I was hoping for high 14's, I am still VERY happy with how my vert did my first time at the track in 20 years! Traction was an issue for me, and I need more practice with my launch. I'm THIS CLOSE to being in the 14's, so I hope to get more runs in to experiment with different launch techniques. Regardless, I want to get 3.73:1 gears and an LSD for the car in the near future.

Forum banter is fun, but it pales in comparison to going out to the track with your forum-friends in search for the lowest ET's posible with our cars. WADDA BLAST!!!

Ok first time at the track. Will be going back next saturday and desperatly want to hit 14's. What can I do. IThese times are the two best I got. After these the track got real slick and I could not go with out spinning. Hell even my driver side tire spun rubber on my fenders, and I do not have a LSD. Chad, did you change your fuel filter and put in mobil one? Try the bosch platinum 4 spark plugs, that is what I use.

I havent changed the spark plugs nor the fuel filter. I am running royal purple oil though. Is the fuel filter under the car like most new cars? Any special tools needed or just an open end wrench?

boss 244
10-17-2006, 01:03 PM
Its under the floor on the drivers side , bolted to the frame rail.. If you look under the car right below the middle of your door you will see a black plastic sheild that is about 2 feet lond and attached with a few smal bolts. right behind that is the fuel filter. You will need a socket wrench to remove the bracket that holds the fuel filter , but the filter itself is attached to the fuel ine with quick disconnect fittings. Push in on the green part. The only place I can find the filter right now is at ford 18.99

210 HP at the flywheel... figure around 15% loss for a manual give you.... puts you in the 180RWHP range.... 18% or so for an automatic get your around 170RWHP...

Time to update! I finally got to the track last saturday to test the new mods (MAC long tube headers, offroad pipes , MAC prochamber, drag shocks JBA wires and a T/A rearend girdle) It was a very windy and cold, 40 degree day. Lots of cars showed up to finally get on the track. I amde several runs the best of which was14.1349@96 mph, two other 14.1's and a few 14.2's. I get tire spin no matter what with the M&H DR's and lowering the tire pressure makes it worse, probally because the tire cups. I did get a few 2.0xxx 60' times, but I really need to get better at that! I've got one more mod to save for, the BMR k-member and arms. The I'll be done ;)

ok. lets c if u guys can help me out here. i don't have any clue where my timeslip went, but i remember the important times (some of them anyway) 2007 mustang v6, white/black 5spd. bone stock. 580miles, ran 4 passes back to back. best of the night was a 15.687 @ 89.942mph. 60' was 2.330 r/t was .160 1/8th i believe was 9.874 @ forget speed. had one other decent 15, which was a 15.821 @ 92mph. next one was a crap pass, as i missed 3rd, and just coasted through at 18.000 @ 64 mph. the above 3 passes were on 87 octane, w/ maybe 2 gallons of gas left in the tank. next pass was with 10, andnot by me, but a friend, who drives a scoobie (2000 wrx rs w/ ej20 swap), so he didnt know how to launch a rwd car. well, he missed 3rd, and ran a 16.321 @ 83mph. his 60' was pathetic, at 2.8 this seemed to be the best night, as now every single pass has been 16.0's at 87-89mph, except for one 15.9. with the first 4 passes, 2nd wouldnt even chirp, now, 2nd will occasionally spin. come wednesday, im going to run again (gainesville raceway, test-n'-tune every single wednesday), but this time, ive got simple mods: fuel filter, k&n air filter, bosch +4 plat plugs, and q horsepower oil(not quite sure, but figured id try it). i know theres issues with the track, as its not quite sticky after the stupid sc camaro popped his tranny tryin to run down a 5.0 w/ h/c/i. then proceded to run the whole length of the track, as did the next civic in the other lane. any other simple quick mods u guys have in idea i should try? and what kind of times u guys think ill run?

Best et at a little honky tonk 1/8 mile drag strip was a 9.307 at 74.89 mph with stock gears and a bad clutch. Upgrades include Tunible induction intake, mmr tb spacer, bbk 70mm tb, screamn demon coil, 9mm ignion wires, underdrive pully, lightweight driveshaft, and i have long tubes, centerforce clutch, and 410s to put in. sts turbo coming in december and possibly super six heads and cams if i can get the money. no idea on dyno numbers but will post once i get the clutch, gears, and long tubes and prochamber instaled

first off, wow thats an old time for rygen (his best is a 6.9 in the 1/8th i think)

and much less mods?

he had gears/tlok extra, and an alternator pulley.

with just intake/tune my car went 14.7 with a 9.5x 1/8th mile. that was on the stock 16" rims

yea well i have no tune just intake and dual exhaust y pipe and i do 9.6x on 20's, its much harder to pull those kinda number on bigger wheels and no tune than on stockers with tune.

your 60' was better than mine. The 20s won't hurt you as much in the 1/8th compared to the 1/4. The wider and better tires on your 20s will help you compared to the very hard skinny stock tires.

I didn't start hooking up til I got dr's and an LSD

yea man no pun intended, i could see u having problems hooking on stockers because i know i did, i was pulling 2.5+ on the 60' with my stockers but since ive ran on my dub's ive brought it down to 2.1 which is my best thus far, do you have a Tune? and if so how much benifit do you get from it, ive always been a little scepticle on manipulating the ECU because thats all i need is something to go wrong in the computer.
