I own a redfire mustang and I'm wondering what are some steps that I can keep the paint looking brand new and shiny? I see cars that are a decade old looking brand new and I'm wondering how they do that. I don't have a garage to store it in and I park it out on the street. Some colors like torch red and vista blue can retain their shine for years with little work because that's how the color is, but duller colors like redfire, tungsten gray, windveil blue and silver can quickly lose their shine as seen on other cars.

What can I do to keep my stang looking new?

I just bought a Screaming Yellow 06 ... Putting stripes on before I wax for the first time ....

My plan is ....

Clay Bar before initial Wax and then Wax ....

I will do this every 3 months ....

Clay Bar's are the miracle answer to keeping your paint looking like new prior to each waxing ...

yes, I do. I live in the desert where the sun beats on the vinyl and without wax or some kind of protectant it wouldnt last as long.

I don't think it would be a good idea to put wax on vinyl. Something like ICE or Zanio is safe but reg wax - I don't think so.

i still have a 92 buick riviera that still looks beautiful minus a few scratches.

Washed at least once every two weeks. Wax at least 3-4 times a year. Once right before winter hits. In between waxes i would polish every other wash. off topic: scrubbed the rims and whitewalls every wash as well, tire shine.

    car was kept outside.

the best thing to do is keep the car out of the DIRECT sunlight as much as possible...car cover on ebay +/-$100.
the best products to use IMO are Mothers. i have used them on my black 06 and she is beautiful.
here is a great link for anyone who is new to car care...or just wants a few hints.
    http://www.detailguide.com and http://www.waxforum.com/
    hope this helps!
