guys we've gotta think about this logically....
ford just spent QUADRILLIONS redesigning the Mustang and they completely changed the V6's reputation with the upgrades they've made to it. I SERIOUSLY doubt that they would use the brand new 4.0 L block for 2-3 release years and then out of nowhere drop back down to a 3.5, even if its a better built engine with higher output...
lets face it, Ford can sometimes be pretty cheap... (interior plastics, other materials used, etc.), so i dont think they would waste the money to drop these new blocks in a car that is already selling like WEED AT A RAP CONCERT... if it aint broke dont fix it... in a nutshell, Ford wont spend more money if they dont have to, period.
i see them tweaking the 4.0 for a few years to get more and more power out of it just to keep them selling, and then maybe down the road changing to a different engine, but not NEXT year.
i could be completely off base here, but that's just how i think about it.
um the calogne v6 is not a new motor, it first started out in the 1975 ford pinto as a 2.0 then was stroked to 2.3, 2.4, 2.6, 2.8, 2.9, 3.1 and finally 4.0.
ummm how was a 2.0 4cyl pinto engine the same as a 4.0 v6? it may be the same kind of design (I dont know if it is or not) but a completely different block. also I owned a 94 and the 3.8 ummm it sucked... they kept that thing around for 10 years... why would they get a different engine after only 2-3 year run. one engine I would like to see as an option on the mustang is the 3.9L V8 that they use in the Lincolin's
I was just talking about mustangman02232's post. He said that it started out as a 2.0 in a pinto... I said it may be the same design (meaning still a calogne) but there was no way a 2.0 4-cyl has been bored out to a 4.0 V-6
thats cool... I can belive a motor that was already a V6, but that is still pretty crazy that the displacement was originally a 2.6... that is a hellacious amount of boreing and strokeing, almost 100 cubic inches.

all the techs at my work say this years motor is completly different design from the calogne motor... the 4L in the explorers and etc.. they are the bored out same thing block whatever.. the ones for our mustangs even though carries the name.. its a whole new motor all together
complete new cast, new engeneering, new everything from SQ1

Thank you. I'm not a moron fellas.... be it the same block from previous 4.0s or not, its still "brand new" to the mustang...
some of u guys took the words "brand new" in the wrong context...(maybe i should have clarified, my bad)... regardless of whether or not the 4.0 block has been around, it has never been in a Mustang... I'm aware that the 4.0 has a history, as Doug from Bamachips has been tuning 4.0s for years now. The fact of the matter is that the 4.0 has never put out the same numbers as it has in the mustang, and yes i understand you cant really compare a 4.0 truck to a 4.0 car, but still, the 4.0 has been revamped for this car, thus making it "brand new."
