Hey everyone, after lots of waiting and saving i finally got "the car", I have owned 2 oldsmobiles, both more than 10 years old, so it goes without saying that I couldn't be more thrilled about getting this car.
I think the only difference is that I got a white "pony stripe" instead of a pearl one in the picture, besides that I'm pretty sure its all the same... In any case, I come seeking wisdom about car modifications. Between college and everything else going on, I figure the best way to learn about most of this is to just jump right in and ask the other drivers. I have a pretty good idea of how I want my car to end up looking, the problem I'm having is how to get there. I've spent the past few nights stuck at my computer researching prices, name brands, reviews, pictures, directions, etc.
What I've come up with seems to me to be a pretty standard set of appearence-enhancing plastic:
I think I like the second one a little more, not to mention that its cheaper... but I can't seem to get a decent picture besides the one on that site which worries me.
What I'm really looking for is someone who has ordered something like this or who knows a better way to handle it. The descriptions on the autoaccessory site make it seem quite simple. Also, I'm not completely new to the field, I've worked on lots of cars, taking things apart and putting them together but nothing huge, I'm defianatly not an expert. The scoop's descriptions say they attach with a single peice of tape? Seems pretty odd. Also, my dad and I have painted a car, and keeping in mind that we started from scratch, we did a pretty good job, do you need to be an expert to paint these peices? What is the ballpark on how much I'll spend just on paint? Will I be expected to drill into the side of my car to install a body kit? How rare are the distributers of these items? I would really like to get my hands on this stuff before spending this much money.
Any advice, tips, comments, anything would be very much appreciated to help me get off the ground with all of this stuff, Thanks in advance for taking the time to read my post and I look forward to talking to you all. -Vincent
