I jsut bought an 05 Mustang and looking for options and ideas for XM placement in it. I currently have the Delphi Skifi but will consider getting a new and smaller unit. Any options and/or pictures would be a huge help. Thanks.

Greg,

I have the SkyFi2 in mine. I also had the SkyFi in my other Mustang. If you like the SkyFi, then I would stick with it or get the SkyFi2. The displays are a lot nicer than the smaller ones and the white background on the SkyFi2 is so easy to read (even in sunlight). I went through many installations very frustrated because I always connected through cassette which has great sound but now that there is no cassette, I originally had it installed through the built-in modulator which gave me a lot of static. I then went out and bought the FM modulator that is supposed to eliminate the static but I could still hear it every now and then. (I love music and am very fussy). Finally, I bought an aftermarket CD/Cassette deck which fits the car perfect and now it sounds great. (If I could just get rid of the vibration in the doors). There is another option to use Auxiliary with the Skaker 500 which I was going to try but was happy with the cassette and didn't want my car ripped apart again. It is the P.I.E. FRD04-AUX converter. I found one at logjamelectronics but there may be other places to get them. Also, I ordered the Vehicle Specific mount from pro-fit for mounting the SkyFi2. Its worth the $40. I ruined my last dashboard trying to mount with adhesive.

I can email you a picture, its not the greatest picture but shows the SkiFy location. For some reason I can't upload these pictures to the forum.

Dawn

What? XM is the Best!!! You can keep your Howard Stern. I was thinking of trying to hook it up to the AUX on the back of the Shaker 500. Just kidding with you bullitt5561, Everyone has there own thing and I have had XM for 4 years now and love it.

to bad XM has commercials on the music channels now. If I remember correctly...when you signed up you were told that it was commercial free music. Not the case now. That is bad business.

I think they're both pretty awesome. I hate the regular radio. Nothing but commercials, talk and the same songs over and over. I'd actually like to have a subscription for both. I wish the equipment was interchangeable. They make it expensive if you want to switch. Actually, XM started off with some music stations having commercials, then they were all commercial free and now they're back to some having commercials. I agree, it is bad business. People are paying to not hear commercials. But from what I hear, they're not profitable. Then there's rumors all the time of the 2 companies merging. Who knows what will happen with Satellite radio in the next few years.

Howard stern is the best!!!!!!!! as far as xm having comercials in their shows, it is true. Clear channel(the company that fired howard stern at one point, and owns most of the "free radio") is paying XM money to put comercials on their air waves. XM was the pioneer with satelite radio, with sirius starting a lil later after XM. But now Sirius is blowing up, because of howard stern. I listen to howard stern every morning when im on my way to college and at nights going to work, and every quarter the news stations report that sirius is blowing XM away every quarter with crazy new subscribers to Sirius.

Sirius is blowing up, huh. Then how come XM stock is at $11 and sirius can't get to $4. Howard Stern is good for sirius, but I don't think it's having the impact they would have hoped.

XM will buy out Sirius in 5 years, IMO.
