they were used to cool the brakes or am i wrong? I have a book at home they talked about thouse and q scoops at the same time one did brakes the other did something else

On the original Shelbys the lower scoops ducted air to the rear brakes to cool them, and the upper scoops diverted air into the car itself.

Please forgive my ignorance, or if this is off topic but how are these installed? Screwed into the body?

Also, my wife wants black louvers for the side and the back. I have seen the back in black (no AC/DC puns please), but I have seen nothing but the body color on the side louvers. Anyone ever seen otherwise? I just think that would look too weird to have black side louvers on a red car.

They are installed with 3M tape. Having black side louvers would look weird in most cases. I saw a white stang with flat black side louvers and it was nasty. Paint the side ones the body color and the back ones look good either in the body color or flat black.

It is hard to tell from the picture but does the ones from CDC fit tight to the body or is there a small gap?
