Default hit 176mph, and off to the body shop...

i was maxing my car out for no apparent reason last night. using the "average speed" reset button, the highest i got it to read was 176mph. well a mile before my exit i start slowin down. at about 80mph, my brake pads started gassin really bad, and would NOT grip, but i was already starting to exit onto the offramp so i couldn keep goin straight. i manuevered it through the turn as best i could, but it hopped the curb and hit a wooden sign post over at about 5mph. the bumper will liekly need replacement, and i gotta get the front leading edge of the driver side of my hood repainted. the fender is fine, and so is the grille and the headlight. my rim is pretty bashed up too because of low-profile tires so it took the brunt of the curb.

oh well, time for a street scene bumper and foose nitrous rims to jump up from second and third on my list to first and second, while the long tubes and exhuast fall back to #3.

it makes me cry lookin at my baby though JGOD DAMITNIT!!!

no cops or insurance involved though. and being 3am, no witnesses (i would have been going roughly the speed limit anyway). new high speed record though, so i have that out of my system for at least another few months.

That thing went 176 mph? With a 4.30 gear ratio?
You're lucky Charles Darwin didn't get involved.[8D] 176 mph + loss of control = bad times

yeah, you should put a brake upgrade as #1 on your list imo

You need a chute on it for just such emergencies.

remeber you can always slow down by down shifting. the ss r/t truck has a cool thing where even if yoru going 130mph you can put it in 1st and just slow down quick without tearing stuff up.

ive got hawk pads and drilled/slotted rotors. in the future, big ol' brakes will be a top priority for sure

and tommyv8, there was no loss of control while going fast, and the damn thing almost took the 20mph turn at 60mph without incident...darn 225 tires up front...

i haven't driven this thing hard in so many months that i can't remember (other than going to the track), and now i am reminded why. this just fu(king sucks the more i think about it. half my summer paycheck, here if freaking come

downshifting does jack squat on my car, seeing as the throttle body i put on keeps the revs up. i can practically cruise control without CC on

Ow ****, that doesn't leave me feeling very good..... I just bought a brake kit including Hawk HPS pads, Powerslot slotted rotors, Goodridge SS lines and Motul 5.1 fluid. Hopefully I don't run into that as well. These rotors are huge though, and I have stock Brembo calipers... so hopefully braking will be respectable ^_^

braking improved drastically over stock, when the brakes were hot at least. this really surprised me considering i did some freeway speed-to-almost-stop cycles to seat the pads to the rotors, and it gave the abs a hell of a work-out.

just dont try slowin down hard from 176mph
