I looking to upgrade my V6 to either a GT style grill from Street Scene, or get a GT take-off front. I have plans on swapping out the stock muffler with an American Thunder based upon the discussions I've read.

So here's my question, since I'm looking at GT take-off's, I could get a package deal that would give me the front and back bumpers from a GT and allow me to have a dual exhaust. Is there really any benefit that I would see from moving to a dual exhaust? And when I'm talking dual exhaust I don't mean using the GT take-off exhaust, I'd go with dual American Thunders.

The upgrade to the stock muffler is more about sound than any real power increase. So what's the consensus?

Is there a noticeable difference in sound between the dual and single exhaust? Is it in volume, rumble, etc? Thanks for your advice!

Sound increase was much deeper with duals. I did not notice anymore top end sound.

well if your going to go with flowmasters I would probably go with duals. They are just a little more restrictive than the MRT and you would probably see a very minute gain going with dual flowmasters over a single flowmaster. Also I just think that duals look better and if you ever go F/I you will get better performance with duals than with single.

Its mainly for looks. but it sounds really good. i had a guy in a 05 v6 convert stop right behind my car and check it out for a couple seconds before he sped off. It gives the car a better look.

Ok, this may sound suprising......

....but hind sight 20/20, doing it over again, I'd probably go single. Not because I don't like my duals, but because I want people to know it's a six. So I put a 4.0 badge on the trunk, and a license plate that says its a six. But a single would have saved me a lot of money. I've been through 4 exhaust configurations. LOL.

Did you have a shop fab-up a h-pipe for one of your configs? I'm wondering if performance would be a lot better with brand name stuff or if it doesn't really matter (I wan to keep my gt take-off mufflers, so it's just the pipes I'm worried about.
