Im not a "basher". Stinger just really irriatated me by thinking he knows all, when in all actuallity he knew nothing! It isnt just me and believe me... I HAVE been through my chain of command over and over! Just in my brigade this month there were 123 eligable reenlistees and only 6 reenlisted. That tells you that there is something SERIOUSLY wrong. The military is taking a HUGE drop in personel and they are about to have to resort to the draft and its all because they are paying civilians $100,000 a year to do the same job I do for $40,000 a year and they done want to raise the reenlistment incentives! So everyone is getting out!

Im sorry if you think its a Military matter only. The TAX PAYERS OWN THE MILITARY and im a firm believer that all the stuff that happens behind closed doors should be open to public eyes! Military secrets are all good and dandy and should be kept that way ( I know because I have a secret clearence) but the way our soldiers and equipment are treated should be exposed to the rest of the world and the problem should be solved.

I went to Iraq under the impression that the U.S. Govt was going to take care of us and that assumption was so far from correct! Im done complaining, but I believe that the People should know whats going on.

Go ahead and "enlighten the world" with your problems then if that's what you "feel" is the most mature and intelligent way to handle the situation I know you're better than that! I guess what I said about military conduct and service before self has no meaning these days. I sure just hope that the people I'm serving with WANT to be there or something's gonna go wrong...IMO

I'm not trying to sound close minded by saying you should suck it up and take it, but I am trying to remind you of basic military conduct and duty to your country. I signed up knowing I could one day be in a situation where I could die, have to carry out nuclear war, or fight a war in harsh conditions that doesn't make sense to my opinions about that war. But since I WANT to serve my country and feel honor in doing it, I'm willing to make the ultimate sacrifice. It's not that I want to live in **** or die fighting, but I'm still serving for what I believe in...not necessarily the "government" and it's ideas, but GOD and COUNTRY.

If nothing was done about the situation, go up the chain...if that doesn't work write to your senator. If enough people are having these problems and are going through the chain it WILL have an impact. If nothing, then you are a better man for trying for what's best. But going against military conduct is a sign of someone who joined for the wrong reasons and I know you're above that!

OK OK OK, AT EASE!!!
JD and Stinger, you guys are in the middle of a MOS war and being the senior NCO, that I am, I hear it everyday between supply, cooks, engineers, mechanics, commo and whoever else is in the area. KNOCK THE $HIT OFF!!!
Damn, we're on a car forum. If you guys want to bash it out, go on AKO and email each other.
It's like dealing with 2 privates. and for the 2 of you, I'm quite sure this is the FIRST conflict either of you have been involved in, maybe one of you had a Bosnia trip. I've been around the world and back a few times and had real dealings in every country I had occupied. So enough of the GI joe $hit and deal with what you did and be proud. Life is hard and combat is worse. I guarantee it will not be the hardest ordeal you will ever have to deal with in your lifetime.
NOW THEN, can we get back to car talk.
so, 98ls1, what mods you got???

EXACTLY!!! CAR FORUM!!! SO DONT BRING YOUR DAMN RANK IN HERE!!! I dont want to hear it while im at work and I da*n sure not going to listen to it while im sitting at my desk at home. Now if you dont want me to get rude I would suggest you just sit back and listen to what we have to say and IF you would like to voice your opinion then leave your rank out of it and do it in a mannerly fashion and not a demanding one.

And im sure you are a "senior NCO" and not some private yourself.

Now! Back to ricekiller,

My only two complaints here is that the way we were treated in Iraq with the whole supply channel and all was just pathetic. I dont know where you are stationed or if you have even been to Iraq but here where im at people are fed up with it and MANY MANY people have written senators and congressmen. Not just the inexperienced guys. Im talking E6 all the way to W4's have done it and im sure some commissioned guys have snook off and done it secretly. And with that said, the second complaint falls right in with it. Because of all that happening in Iraq people here are getting out left and right and most of them are the older guys that have been in for eight or more years. Well here I am rolling into my sixth and Im about to be told that I have to stay in and pick up the slack that someone just made by getting out ON TIME. Why is it they are doing his? Because they dont offer anything to stay in! Thats why. There were civilian guys working on the same airfield with me a few hangers down making $200,000 a year doing MY JOB!!! This is another reason there is NO retention what so ever. The military wans to pay the civilians to do my job instead of paying me to put my life in harms way AND doing my job, then so be it, I will become a civilian! Im not upset at this time because all is said and done... but all hell will break loose when they tell me I cant get out on my promised ETS date.

Well, jd, you have just proved my point. Apparently you have no discipline and my rank has nothing to do with this forum. I'm telling you as a another person on this forum that you're taking this too far. I know how aviation lives. I've supported them for years and yes i know certain times can be hard. I've had my hard times not only in combat but in the field, and in schools...harsh schools, i.e. Sapper school, SERE, ranger. So don't give me **** about having a tough life. AND YES I volunteered to put myself through it and it was all worth it. I can resist pain, hunger and personal hardships more than I ever thought I could imagine. I've seen brothers in arms wounded and killed and had seen the enemy be destroyed with my own eyes, not through a camera. If you think the 30mm cannon does some ****, you should see what a 120mm sabot round can do. then years later the Army tells you not to go near the remains of "depleted uranium"...little too late now.

Everyone in the military has an important job and you're one of them. If money is your most important goal, then you should get out. but you know, as well as anyone else after being in Iraq, the commaraderie will never be there in a civilian job. The ideal of your life in ones hand and his in yours. there comes a time when you reach a high enough rank that you can change some things you don't like, but not all and it takes time, it's not going to be given to you and you know that. then you say that you have to be picking up the slack for some who had gotten out, I'm sorry, blame Clinton. his ideal along with Shinseki was to do more with less to save money. I don't like it anymore than the next guy but if dedicated soldiers like us don't do it, who will??? sure as helll not those little "playstation generation" spoiled little brats that haven't been weened from mama's tit yet. so the choice is yours and be proud of who you are and what you do. If you listen to someone's opinion of you that's is of another MOS, of course he has his qualms, but who cares? you know you're good at your job and believe it. Everyone is a critic until they have to do it then they whine and cry about doing it.
Have a great day.

Yeah... I will tell you about depleted uranium. LOL.

I just dont like the fact that the Military wants to take better care of the civilians, who are asked to do a million times less than the soldier, but still gets paid out the ying yang for it. Just isnt right and it just goes to show how much the U.S. Gov't doesnt care for the soldier the way they should!

You have a great day also.

well i just came back to this and what have i missed? First off FAST i didnt ever come off like a private and second i was correcting a E-4 running his mouth about the Army. I was doing what any good NCO should do. And now JD!! Boy you need to watch your mouth! Im not pulling any rank. 2nd YOU COULD NEVER EVER STOMP a mud hole in my chest. Dont make threats your spine cant afford. Yea this is just a forum and that was my point dont bash the army just cause you had a rough experience. You do need to get out cause i can tell you have problems. I was working on Apache when you was in Grade school so dont assume anything. As for those Civilans getting paid far more then us.. You cant be to bright. Go ask a dyno corp or ratheon what they bring home. They make about 22 bucks an hour. And after they pay all there dental and medical and taxes they bring home about 600 bucks a week. You being a SPC assume from the way you act , with 5 years and probally 6 months make about the same with all your benefits. Now for the ones Up in Mosul and Q-west they was bring home the 80k a year. And the ones i saw bust there butt 12 hour shifts 7 days a week. JD i dont know everything just been doing it longer then you. And i wasnt really bashing your MOS cause if i was i would of. By no means do i have any reason to hold back on that part. Typing doesnt sound the same as it does in person. And FAST he is to young for Bosnia the Army of one guys calls it KOSOVO. And i was Bosnia. Hey Fast when you goona come visit me here at FT .Campbell? I see your car once in a while at advance auto. Just send me PM and maybe we can hook up.

I was in BIAP, Balad, Tikrit, Baquaba, Kirkuk and a couple other places.

And for stinger... my friend that just got out and is working for OLR and this year has already made $60,000 and he is shooting for $100,000. That doesnt sound like 22.00 an hour to me!
